Re: ? for all homeowners?
Interesting question. We've had all of our immediate family come by, so far only 1 friend. (We've asked most of our friends to give us a few weeks as we have a lot of yard work we wanted to get done). We can tell a few friends are kinda jealous though.
We had an split in reactions with family. Some people are overwhelmingly happy for us, gave us "new house cards" said congrats, they love it. Others never uttered congrats, and infact only focused on what needs work or "what they would do" or think we should do.
Kind of a wierd split and it did upset us a bit but we'll get over it.

patti...good answer i dont feel alone now...
none of our friends want to come by or helps us, and some never even said congrats, including our best man.... bothering DH and I , cept I admit it and DH wont admit it...
Just dont understand whats so hard about saying congrats at least.
u would think that if I didnt learn thru the wedding process, I should thru this process.

Re: ? for all homeowners?
We have been living in my house since July 4th weekend. My *best* friend still has not been over. People get weird when you accomplish something in life that they have not yet, I guess. He has actually stood me up about 4 times too. He is not the only one.

Re: ? for all homeowners?
My parents have been the only ones that have come over..oh, also one of DH's friends when we were gutting. We received cards and gifts from my in-laws (they live in Fla) and best friends, and at least a congrats most of our friends.
It's funny, quite a few people offered their help when we were gutting, and we wound up getting blown off by the 2 we actually asked for help (they offered, and we asked b/c they were experienced in demo, we were not). I guess they didn't expect us to call them on it....So much for those "friendships".

Re: ? for all homeowners?
Family has been very supportive! I don't know what we'd do without our families!
A lot of friends said congrats and were very helpful! Some offered to help but didn't come through when the time came...and we didn't call unless we really, really needed another pair of hands. One of DH's closest friends only came by when his wife wanted to be "curious". Not that I expect anything but they didn't bring a card and we've only heard from him about the house once since. I know she wanted to check it out to compare to our other friends and what they are looking at. In our last house my friend never wanted to come over...she was only over 1x in 3 years. That compounded with other issues and we hardly speak now.

Re: ? for all homeowners?
we bought our house in august and had some work to do on it and my step dad came over when we were working on it but no one was interested when it was done there saying was its your house we will see it eventually its not going anywhere. real nice right you make this big accomplishment that your proud of and no one wants to see it. I have to say my 2 best friends and there significant others were the first people here but they have always been very supportive of me. My brother wants nuttin to do with it cause hes jelouse he just got married and seems annoyed that ive done everything first. and I have a bday party/ house party 2 weekends ago and everyone was here the longest 2 hrs not interested in my house at all. sorry to go on but this is a sore subject with me as you can tell lol.
