serious ???
ok so as you girls know i am getting a c-section done, but don't know what day yet..... Dh and I are season ticket holders to the New York Rangers and they are in the playoffs for the stanley cup, which is rare for them, and they are doing well , so my ??? is to you, would you be angry or upset if your DH went to the games while you were in the hospital???? i mean there is nothing for him to do while i am there, and he will be there during the day but at 5:00 he has got to leave to catch the train, also my mom purchased tickets for my brother who is 16 to go with him.... i was getting upset last night thinking about him leaving me in the hospital but i know that i am going to have visotors everyday while i am in there, and at night i am going to try and sleep, just wondering if you girls would get upset or just let things role............i mean it is only one or 2 nights.....................
TIA

Re: serious ???
The day after I gave birth while i was still the hospital, DH left me for about 3-4 hours, not for a leisure thing, but to go to school so he wouldn't fail his finals for his masters.
My mom and SIL stayed with me while he was gone til about 10pm. Honestly, I didn't miss him and he was glad to get out of the hospital for a bit of air.
While school and a ranger game aren't the same, I would let him go, but just ask him not to drink.

Re: serious ???
I wouldn't be upset at all. After all the visitor's etc.. I'm actually thinking I'll want some alone time to rest while the nurses take care of the baby.......
(I'm planning a c/s too)
As long as he's there for the big moment and most there after. It's not like he's saying he just wants to go hang at the local pub w/ the boys..

Re: serious ???
Honestly - I wouldn't have a problem with it at all.
Plus you are going to need his help the days after you come home - so this might give the rest he needs before you come home.
Visiting hours are usually at night - so you will have company while he is not there.

You might not want him there anyway all the time. DH annoyed me more then anything sometimes We would just sit there and stare at each other.

Re: serious ???
nicole ... let him go and dont be mad at him... you will have plenty of people around you that DH might just get in your way or something.. and as far as taking off of work.. ..i think its best that he takes off of work when you and the baby are home so that he can help you ..
cant wait to me your little princess...

Re: serious ???
I can see where you would want to get upset at first...I even thought about the situation before I replied. Truthfully, I was so tired after my surgery, I couldn't wait for the phone to stop ringing and visiting hour to be over so I could try and sleep! I think when you have that baby in your arms you will realize you wont feel alone in the hospital. I even sent my husband to work for 3 of the days there so he could use his time at home instead. Good luck! And I hope your team wins!!

i know what you mean about crazy family - both of our parents would prob be annoyed if DH left me and our first child to go to a game but they're a different generation. I don't know how i'd feel -- i think its really how you feel - why not see how you feel that day?

Re: serious ???
How many games will there be during your time in the hospital? Honestly, I would really only be okay with one game, if that.
It's funny that so many people feel differently b/c I am usually the wife who is totally lax about my husband socializing without me, going to bachelor parties or spending a lot of time on the golf course.
I've already been hospitalized once while dating DH and I needed him there. He's pretty quiet most of the time, so his presence never bothered me. Also, DH was the buffer between me and my family members, who had their own ideas about my treatment. I will need that when there is a baby involved and I am still weak. I am having a C-section, too.

Re: serious ???
I guess Im the minority here- I would never ever tell my husband he could or couldnt do something... but Id be diappointed he wouldnt want to be with me and the baby...
This is once in a lifetime... never get these days back...
The days I was in the hospital and DH and I were alone with our new family- were just "wonderful"

Re: serious ???
I wouldnt be upset. Two days after I had DS my husband, all of my family, and all of my friends were enjoying my jack and jill surprise baby shower. My DH was the guest of honor filling in for me It was nice that one of us got to experience it. They video taped it and then he brought it to the hospital that night and we watched it together. It was very cute and I was truly happy that he had fun. I used the time alone to bond with the baby and get some well needed rest.

Re: serious ???
Sounds like My DH, he just gave up his season tickets this year but If it were the end of the playoffs, I know he would be there. And since its at night usually and you will have visitors I think I would allow one game at least.

if they win tues and wed this week then no games at all, but if they loose then there is a game on Sunday at 1........ so there might not be a game but there might be......... so there is a hope there is no game................ Thanks alot girls.........

I would let him go. He will only leave at 5 pm. Not the whole day.
Take that chance to rest, sleep, etc... You will see him the next day.

Re: serious ???
I am not gonna lie, I would be jealous as hell...especially if I was a Ranger fan. and thinking about how hormonal I was, it wouldn't have been pretty. If I wasn't a sports fan, maybe not so much...but if I had to be lying in the hospital after giving birth to OUR child, he has to share in my "pain"somehow.
but people do it all the time. Look at that chick who got induced a couple of days early so her DH could go to the Chicago playoffs game This is all my selfish beeyatchy opinion.
