Has anyone ever been to a Rodeo??
I went yesterday with DH, my uncle and his fiance. It was in PA at shawnee mountain. At first I was like what the heck am I doing here, but I have to admit it was really really cool to see the cowboys buck riding and it was professional so there were judges and they actually win $$$- this is their living! It was very interesting and wild to see especially when they get thrown off those horses and I guess they were cows, bucking away. I dont know how these guys dont break their backs!!!

I have!
I agree...they are actually pretty cool.
They don't even get paid much! But I feel bad for the horses..they put a tight belt across the you know what...that's what makes them go wild! (I guess I would too! )

OMG!!! I was wondering what is making them buck like that!!! I felt bad one horse went bananas and slammed right into the gate( those huge metal pens they stay in) and his foot got caught, thank god he was ok, it got up and started to run around.

I went to a Rodeo once when I was a little girl, about 7 yrs old....I was the only one routing for the little calves to get away....(so that they wouldn't be ropped)
afterwards I made my parents promise me that they would never take me to a Rodeo again...I thought it was animal cruelty...and still do.

I thought the same thing at first, but the animals really arent getting hurt- they are so strong and weigh a ton- these guys could NOT get them down for the life of them and then just tied 3 of their feet for 6 seconds and let them free, they got up and ran around, no harm done.

I've never been but would love to go to one. My friend lives down south and goes all the time. She always has a blast.
