Would you say something?

So my BIL just got engaged. They ( or should I say sheChat Icon ) wants to get married on a Sunday in Sept. 06

They don't want to do labor day weekend for a few reasons.. one is that my sil just got married labor day weekend this year
We have another family wedding on sept. 16th so that weekend is out.

They announced today that they haven't picked a hall ( although they have 1 they really like so far) but the date will be Sept 10th - exactly a year from when they got engaged.

In my new business I ONLY work weekends. Not every weekend but I am already booked for this date!!! I mean contract, deposit, everything.

Do I say something?? I don't want to be a trouble maker or make them feel like they have to change the date if this is the date they really want.. but I won't be able to be at the wedding if they keep that date. My DH is the best man and its his only brother ( whom I am very close with) I really want to be there but I know how much cr@p engaged couples go through and don't want to be one of those people that makes like difficult... Advice please!
There is only 1 other sunday available ( the 24th) and with less then a year to go.. I don't know if the hall they want has that date available anymore.

Re: Would you say something?

I would say something. Make it clear that you're not emanding that they change the date, but just be honest and tell them your dilemma. That you just can't break the contract, etc, and you want to be there. They may really be attached to the date and you may not be able to make it. Or maybe by then youll have someone you can send in your place so you can leave early and at least see part of BILs wedding. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Would you say something?

I would mention it.. In passing.. kinda like an-- "oh, DH told me that you picked a date.. unfortunately that date I have an event scheduled.. I really would like to be there.. I will be so heart broken if I can't make it"--butt kissing??

Just so they know that you have an event and that you know that you really should be there.. If they know your priorities, they may flex.. especially if its the only brother.. etc... I would metion something.. Good Luck!

I would say something....I am sure they would want to know in advance that you won't be there so they can make other arrangements if possible, definitely let them know.

Re: Would you say something?

I would let them know you are already booked for that day to work but understand that they may not want to change the date

I would mention it now only so they won't get upset if you bring it up much later.
