crib near a window?
we want to order our nursery furniture and are measuring the baby's room to decide what pieces we should get, etc. we dont know if you can put a crib near a window? dh is concerned about a possible draft coming from the window??
any opinions on this?

We decided not to put the crib next to the windows because of the draft. We have 2 windows in the nursery. One in each wall, so it's "dfficult" to place the furniture but I am putting the glider/changing table there.
I have mini blinds on them and plan on putting a sheer with a valance in addition to cut some of the draft.
I am also going to calk as much as a can on the seal area with clear calk.

it's actually a safety concern for a few reasons:
- the strings from the blinds/curtains might strangle the baby and go around it's neck
- you never want a crib near a window b/c when the baby gets old enough they could possibly figure out a way to get out through the window

Ours is somewhat near the window...we did buy those safety things to hold the cords to the blinds up...
Theres no way he could ever stand up on the crib and get the window locks open to get out and at that stage he would be in a bed already.

Ours is close to a window, but not so close that the baby could reach the cords for the blinds.

I specifically did not put the crib near a window. Besides the draft & light factors, once the baby can stand I don't want to be concerned with the curtains being pulled down onto the baby's head.
(ETA: we already took off the blinds for some less-hazardous options)

Aside from the draft, you have to worry about what's covering the window as well...blinds, curtains, drapes....all can cause choking hazards. It's best all around to not put babies near windows.

cribs should not go near or in the pathway of a window due to breee/chills. Also, do not put it directly under a heating vent/AC vent/ or the return vent in the room.
