you need to have a serious sit down with your RE. If you are close to 40, it may be wise to consider IVF now. BUt the fact that you only had a 7 day LP is oddChat Icon That should definately be investigated!

Are you sure its AF, not just spotting??? Spotting can be normal.

I think its luteal phase, time between ovulation and perio. I have a 25 day cycle, but still have a 14 day LP, just ovulate early.

yes.

Sami-I dont understand what you mean. What clinic are you using? First I would ask them why they think you have a 7day LP, and then I would discuss IVF, but thats just my opinion.

Re: COUNT ME OUT

Im sorry Chat Icon

First- Get yourself a good book on this all. There are a lot of good infertility books out there.....

I dont mean to sound harsh, but you will find yourself sooo much less stressed in this whole journey if you understand all the details, because the Dr's simply do not have the time to walk you through it all.

Second- IUI's are just a stepping stone , and ooften just the very first step in an often longer IF journey for many without simple issues...I myself had 13 of them before moving on to IVF.

Your chances of success on an IUI is slim...Around 9% on average....

If you are 39 + I would consider what your exact issues are and maybe IVF is your best option....Not to mention a good deal less money then Adoption...( but the chance of failure exists etc) ...

You usually need to get a good relationship with a Dr. going to move forward IMO....A new Dr. May want you to start at the beginning, see for themselves what your cycles are like etc.

The fact that AF came within a WEEK of your IUI is a 100% signal something is WRONG..that is definitly not normal in anyway.

Start with that info and GOOD LUCK!!!

Re: COUNT ME OUT

I just read one of you earlier posts. Am I reading this correct?... your IUI was on 4/5 and AF on 4/8????? If thats right, I think you should call your RE immediately- that should not happen.

When you say 21 days since last period. Since beginning or end of last period??

And how did you know when to do your IUI, did you use OPKs or bloodwork to know that you were ovulating.

Sorry so many questions but after realizing the dates I am Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: OK, I am impatient, I looked further and you said on 3/28 you had IUI, not sure why you said 4/5. Chat Icon So if IUI was on 3/28 your LP was 12 days which is normal.

Re: COUNT ME OUT

I just wanted to send you Chat Icon

I understand your frustration, but I hope you don't give up the fight. Like the other posters said, you've only done a couple of IUIs, right? If you're close to 40, maybe IVF is the answer. It's worth a consultation.

As far as LI IVF, I just switched over to them recently (they did my IUI this cycle). The office is very nice and someone just recently posted on here that they have grant money still to give out (if your insurance doesnt cover it). If you're unhappy with Cornell, it's worth a shot.

Good luck to you in whatever you decide. Chat Icon

Re: COUNT ME OUT

You posted the other day that you had your IUI on April 5th, but that diidn't sound right to me so I searched and you posted on the 29th that you had had the IUI and were feeling a bit crampy.
All this means is that you must have ovulated on Cycle Day 10 (which isn't that unusual) and your luteal phase is about 12 day (which is also ok). So your cycle is pretty normal.

That being said, as Donna said - there is only a 9% increased chance of getting PG with IUI as opposed to natural conception. With your age as a factor (I'm 41) you really should be doing IVF. If the travelling into the city is draining you, then maybe convert to someone out here. There are many places to choose from; NSUH, LI-IVF, EastCoast, etc. You might be better off with a Dr. you know or it may be time for a change and see a Dr. who will reexamine things. These are decisions only you can make, and they need to be informed decisions.

You need to research these offices, you can do a search on here or google them, then decide what is best for you.

I agree with the ladies though...maybe you should look into an IVF consult and a clinic closer to home that is more convenient for you. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
