Sono Question...
Does anyone get a sonogram done every Dr visit?
The girl i work with is also pregnant and she gets one every 4 weeks...my Dr only did it once in the very beginning and the last one I had was when we did the ultrascreen test for downs syndrome.
I heard that after the 20 week sonoscan you will not have anymore unless you pay extra because then it's not covered by most insurances.
Is this true

Re: Sono Question...
I think that unless you're high risk, you're only entitled to (under the prenatal visits program) four sonograms...at least thats all that my insurance covers and I have Aetna.

Re: Sono Question...
I know that I have had 3 since my level 2 (20 week) and they have all been covered without a copay...I think if the doctor orders them they are usually covered...

Re: Sono Question...
I have actually had 4 sonograms and I am 19 weeks.
My doctor wants to keep checking my cervix because of a previous procedure!
I don't mind.... I get to keep seeing my little "Poppy"!!!

Re: Sono Question...
My Dr did them more in the beginning b/c I was bleeding. None of them were scheduled though, except the 8 week to confirm PG & then 20 week level II. now that I need them every 4 weeks since the level II they are scheduled and my Dr had to provide my Dr with a letter of medical necessity.

Re: Sono Question...
My DR. did them every 4 weeks until I went for my anatomy scan at 21 weeks. They have a machine in the office and don't charge for the them only for the ones at the Hospital.

Re: Sono Question...
I got them all the time in the beginning...Im 17 weeks now and will usually start again after 25 weeks...I guess Im considered high risk so the Drs just want to watch the baby's growth in case he comes early.

Re: Sono Question...
i get them done every 3 weeks..i have 2 fibroids, one right by my cervix which has to be monitored b/c can cause premature labor, and another near the baby...both are same size as baby so i have to be watched closely...i'm 15 weeks almost

Re: Sono Question...
I have one every 4-6 weeks, but it's only because I was diagnosed with placenta previa at 20 weeks and they have been monitoring since.

Re: Sono Question...
I only had one at 7 weeks to confirm the pregnancy, 11 weeks (or so) for the ultrascreen and 18 weeks for the anatomy scan.
I did have another one at 35 weeks because I was measuring small, but I wouldn't have had it if everything was measuring normally.
