Re: What areas around Charlotte?

I am in Huntersville and love it. Its Northeast, near Lake Norman.
my neighborhood
We jump on 77 South, and we are uptown in 20 minutes...airport is 25-30 minutes away.

Ballantyne is south, that is also very nice.

I lived there briefly when I went to college there and I remember the neighborhood "South Park" was known as one of the better areas. I'm not sure if it still is, but it might be worth checking outChat Icon

So far, I like Concord, Kannapolis, Monroe, Huntersville, Indian Trail and Matthews. I've been research schools and it seems like Mecklenburg schools aren't too desirable. I use this website to research almost everything.

Re: What areas around Charlotte?

We lived in South Park when we first moved down here. GREAT school system, Myers Park. Its gorgeous down there, but at the same time, very expensive.

DH's dream area is Dilworth. Its close to uptown.

Concord is up and coming(that's where the race track is located) its a little too rural for us. A lot of the communities are new, therefore, they are going to lack in trees, different size yards...that neighborhood feeling.

DH worked in Kannapolis up until 2 weeks ago. He commuted 20 miles there, simply because we found it undesirable. If anyone lives there, I am not knocking it...just not for us. However, we are looking to buy an investment property there, they are building a HUGE research area there. Ground has already been broken. HeHe..Monroe..that is my current nightmare. Greeneyes-have you been down here? I am wondering and hoping that you have been, maybe you can give me insight into something I am missing..DH just got transferred to Monroe. Its an hour and a half ride to work for him. We go back and forth. I can't see living down there. It is COUNTRY. Safe, schools seem okay, but very COUNTRY...and not like cowboy country if you know what I mean. Indian Trail is just north of there, more rural...then north of there is Matthews..which is a complete hit or miss. Some communities are super nice.

Like I said, I am in Huntersville. I love it. Not too city, not too country. We are part of Mecklenburg.

we were going to buy in University Area. That's the most bang for your buck. They have a few subdivisions out there that are classic and priceless when you are driving around new community to new community all day.

Emily-I am not knocking Kannapolis-one day we will meet on the Dale TrailChat Icon

Please no one take offense if you reside in these areas...different strokes for different folks...Chat Icon Chat Icon

We're planning a trip down there in May. From my research it seemed the schools in this area are pretty good, safe neighborhoods. I didn't realize those areas were so rural. I guess I'll have to research more,
