First PG u/s

I hope you ladies don't mind me still posting here...I'm still not ready to move over to the PG board just yet. If anyone is uncomfortable just let me know and I will not post about myself but I hope you ladies will let me stay on this board and read your updates.

So ladies I am staying cautiously optimistic. We had our first PG scan today and to be honest I was quite dissapointedChat Icon

Although I like my RE I think he's not really agressive with certain things. First he did a transvaginal and checked to make sure that the sac was in the uterus...it was. Then he saw the yolk sac and he said ok I see an embryo. So I asked him about a heartbeat and he's like yes I can see a heartbeat but I dont' want to press down too much. He really didn't seem too enthusiastic about using the u/s wand. He did mention he didn't want to cause any unnecessary bleeding or spotting which I guess is good. I didn't get to hear the heartbeat which was dissapointing but then after I left I realized he didn't have the volume onChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon No swooshing of the womb was heard so I'm assuming the volume was not on. The sac measure 18.5 MM and he said I'm measuring 6w5d which according to my LMP is correct.

However according to the ivf due date calculator and when my retrieval was done I am 6w1d. I have another u/s scheduled for next thursday. I don't know if I can wait that long....I'm so anxious to hear the heartbeat.

On a good/bad note I have really bad m/s which I know is a good sign although I feel like crap 24/7. Thanks for listening.

I definitely don't mind you posting here, I know how nervous you are. I'm sorry you didn't get to hear the heartbeat. Your doctor probably did the right thing not pressing down to much but he should of at least turned the volume oneChat Icon Chat Icon I hope he was able to give you pics of the baby. Everything will be fine and you will hear the baby's heartbeat next week. Chat Icon

Hey Jacqui,

I didn't hear the heart beats on my first sonogram. It is totally normal for there to be differneces in the measurments and due dates. My change all the time.

I want to wish you the best! Try and stay positive!!!!!!! And Enjoy!!!!

As far as the heartbeat, you may not hear it until 7 weeks at the earliest.

Re: First PG u/s

I didn't hear the heartbeat until 8 weeks - as a matter of fact, my RE didn't do an ultrasound until 8 weeks if I remember correctly.

Sounds like everything is just fine!!

Re: First PG u/s

jacqui-that all sounds great! i didn't hear any heartbeats that early either. as frightening as it is to get excited, i hope you aren't too cautious in your optimism. you got this far and it's all moving along great! unfortunately, there's not much you can control or change with worry, so why do it???

happy and healthy pregnancy journey to you!!!

I did not think it possible to hear the hb until 12 wks. I could not hear mine until 14. BUT I did see it on ultrasound starting at 6wks. YOu sure those things have sound? I was monitored weekly until 12 wks by 3 docs. Never heard the hb.

PLease try not to worryChat Icon Chat Icon Everything sounds like it is fine.

I had a similiar experience when I went for my 6 week sonogram.

I was actually measuring 5 weeks ( late-cycle implantation) and all what the dr saw was a sac that had implanted.

I went back a week later and we saw a baby. Please try to relax, I know how scary this is but your situation really sounds fine.
