Insurance

I know this has probably been asked a million times before, but if you are living in Suffolk county NOT near water, who are you using for insurance and what are you paying?
I cannot believe some of the quotes I am getting. I was thinking it would be about $900 and so far I have not heard one under $1000. The highest was $2200Chat Icon

Re: Insurance

we went with Nationwide (but our policy started in Feb before they stopped honoring new policies).

$227 per year (with 20% deduction included for an alarm). That was a condo policy

State Farm gave me the best quote so far, but not $800 low. I think I will also transfer my auto insurance. We are going to go talk to them in person on Saturday. How negotiable is insurance?

do you have an appraisal yet? my insurance covers my dwelling - when I got a quote from Liberty Mutual, they were insuring the mortgage amount.

We are getting the appraisal done on Friday - is it better to have this # before getting the insurance quote?

How long does it take to get the appraisal back?

the appraisal will give a value for your dwelling (meaning just your house and not the land) so that is what state farm used.

Liberty Mutual was $1600 and it was less coverage and a higher hurricane deductible

Re: Insurance

We are using USAA and ours is $1100. We insured for more than just the cost of the dwelling.

ETA: We are in mid-suffolk.

We have State Farm for car and home and we pay under $1000/yr for homeowner's - meet with an agent to get a quote - if you want our referral in PJS, let me know Lauren.Chat Icon
