Was this a random contraction?
I am 18 weeks and have had a very emotional 24 hours. I have felt the baby every now and again, but didn't feel anything for a few days. (I know that's normal for this stage.)
Out of nowhere last night I had what felt like a contraction, but I'm not sure. It felt like a fuse was lit on my back (not hot) and it traveled immediately along a line to my the front. Then my entire woman area felt like it was being sucked into my belly button. It stayed like that for about 5-10 seconds, then subsided. Then the baby felt like it was running for about 30 minutes afterward. (Probably thinking 'What the hell was that? EARTHQUAKE!!')
Nothing else has happened since, but has anybody else felt this? I'm not scared, but I do want to know it's normal.

Re: Was this a random contraction?
Did it hurt? It could have been a Braxton Hicks contraction. I know I get them when I am tired, stressed or dehydrated (hahaha, and I am ALWAYS one if not more of those)
I am sure it is fine tho.

It felt more like pressure than pain. It's possible I wasn't having enough water at the time. I usually drink tons of water, but was slacking because I was busy with the funeral arrangements.

Re: Was this a random contraction?
At 18wks...not a contraction. Maybe a twinge or stretching of uterus. And yes, dehydration can cause that as well.
If you are really concerned, call your doctor.
