Corner bath?

Our saga of trying to fit a bathtub in what will be a very tiny bathroom continues...so I have a two part question

#1 - what's the general consensus about corner bathtubs? (and don't worry about my feelings, I don't particularly like them, but we may have to do it...) - poll added - especially interested in the thoughts of people who have them...

#2 - Has anyone ever seen one with a shower over it? Seems like it would be awkward to shower in, and I can't seem to find a picture of one anywhere!

shoudl add that we don't intend to stay in our place for any length of time, it's purely from a development perspective...

Thanks!

Re: Corner bath?

yes, similar - what I'm thinking of doesn't stick out into the room as much...kind of like this.

Is that your's?

Re: Corner bath?

I personally don't think a corner tub like you posted would be used as much as a corner shower stall especially since this isn't your main bathroom, its an addition, you know.

It IS the only bathroom in the house (we're moving the bathroom from its current location)

I think for resale purposes a tub is important but that little corner tub you posted is so small and awkward it could hurt your value if its the only bathing area. There is no other area to move the bathroom or take some inches off the neighboring room to get at least a full size standard tub?

Well it will be soon...LOL we haven't closed yet (signed contracts but not closed) so we won't get into the house until end of April at this rate.

It is the tub/shower in the upstairs bathroom - the downstairs bath has a regular but small tub. Honestly I had never seen a tub like the one I posted until this house - I would say small tub is better than the corner tub but you have to look at the layout and what you can put and how it can be arranged - b.c although I don't like them I think they can work depending on the arrangement of things.

How many bedrooms is the apt? I ask b/c if it was a one bedroom, I'd assume that mainly childless adults would be living there and wouldn't mind just a shower. But if it were 2 or more, a family would more likely be interested, and I know I'd like a tub for the kids.

thanks for thsi. WE're looking at a space that's about just under 4 x 6 ft. We can put a tub long ways but it would eat up so much space and we'd end up with a really long, skinny bathroom. I did find one tiny tiny bathtub that would fit into the area width wise, but went to see it and it was really uncomfortable to sit in...

The room would be best with just a shower - and it could be a really great shower - but I'm just concerned about selling it. I don't want to alienate any potential buyers by not having a tub. I mean, at this point in my life even though I don't have children, I wouldn't buy an apartment or house that didn't have one because we will hopefully have a baby eventually...

The room seems roomiest if we go with a corner tub - it kind of squares it off nicely.

We're not going to be renting it out, we'll be selling it.

It's 2BRs - so, yes, that's my fear - that anyone who is even thinking about having a baby will want a tub.

Re: Corner bath?

Farah, I don't know many mothers of young children who have time to take a nice long bubble bath Chat Icon
We have a huge whirlpool bathtub and I've used it TWICE in one year.

A tiny bathtub would be fine IMO, even if it would not be too comfortable for an adult to bathe in, because it would be fine for children.
The tub in our basement bathroom is very tiny, but it COULD be used to take a bath, just not a nice long soak.
