windows - annoyed at DH
SO we are dormering the house. DH calls me last week at work and tells me that he has upgraded the windows to double hung windows because they are easier to clean.
Fine with me.
Today I see the windows installed.
The interiors are unfinished pine. The rest of the windows in the house are vinyl.
I am annoyed because I can remember the wood windows in my parent's house. They had chips in the paint, paint drips, they got stuck because of the condensation.
I don't think they hold up as well as the vinyl ones.
Am I wrong??
PS - we paid an extra $800 for them
Honest opinions please.

Re: windows - annoyed at DH
Are the Anderson or Pella? They are tops in windows. I'm pretty sure I've heard that wood windows hold up longer and are better insulators that vinyl windows. I prefer wood windows and wish I could change out all the vinyl in our house.

Re: windows - annoyed at DH
I just put these in my entire house, 28 windows in total, paid more than I want to remember but they really are great windows. My current debate is whether to stain or paint the molding.

I put Andersen in my home 20 years ago. They are vinyl on the outside and wood on the inside. We stained the wood and, except for some fading from the sun, they have held up wonderfully. Nothing wrong with them at all.

My dad used to do contracting work and swore by Anderson and Pella windows. I am sure they will be great.

most are vinyl outside and wood inside - is that how yours are? I can't imagine the wood being outside. If you don't want to have to deal with chippping paint, just stain them.
