Did anyone ever hear of this or use this?

We are just finishing up our livingroom, and will be posting pics when done. But there is a sort of (hard to explain) hallway wall that has paneling on it and we dont want to take down the paneling because then we have to re-do the wall and that wall is to the bathroom we are moving next spring. So, What I told my DH was instead of taking down the paneling (which would totally look terrible with the new LR) someone told me about this wallpaper that goes over paneling and then you can paint it. I then thought if its that good, why not do my Diningroom like that since we are re-doing this room in the spring too, and it would at least make it look nice, neat and clean for the holidays. Any thoughts or advice?

I tryed this special wallpaper over the half-wall paneling in our kitchen and I didnt have much luck, I didnt like the results and it was a PIA. I wound up taking it down and just painting the paneling which really cleaned it up and made it look much brighter and nicer.

i saw on one of the home shows (like TLC, trading spaces, etc)... where instead of taking down the paneling, you can 'fill in' the lines in the paneling....(i guess with a spackle type application)... making it look smooth, like a regular wall.

as for the wallpaper - they do sell the wallpaper with patterns that are kind of raised, and you can either paint over them or not. depends on what you prefer.

You can also take down the paneling and use a textured treatment on the wall like venetian plaster or even a faux finish which would imperfections

We just painted over the paneling. Our painter said that the trick is to use an oil based primer since that will really adhere to the paneling and cover the woodgrain so that it doesn't show through the paint.

I believe you can also just paint on the paneling. Check out the home improvement shows websites or google.
