Coloring your hair while pg
I'm towards the end of my 1st trimester and was thinking about coloring my hair. The salon I go to said highlights are okay but to ask my doctor about a single process application.
Have you done anything with your hair while pregnant? Are there any products out there that are fine to use?

I never said my dr, because my stylist wouldn't do it, because she didn't want me inhaling the fumes.

Re: Coloring your hair while pg
My hairdresser uses semi permanent color on me with a low # peroxide.
I asked my ob/gyn and he said this was ok .
Also I hear that hilites are fine too because they never touch your scalp.
I plan on going in the next couple of weeks as my 1st trimester ends tomorrow
I really want to go soon as I feel like these grays that are grwong in are making me look like Sylvester the cat
ETA- I would definitely ask your dr anyway.

Re: Coloring your hair while pg
Each Dr says something different. And I am not trying to be mean or cynical but it is true. Mine said no highlights b/c the smell for me for that long of a time was worse than the semi-perm dye touching my head for 15 minutes. Others say hilites only b/c they do not touch the head. Some even say only do a veggie/henna dye (at most health food stores).
Def ask the Dr.

I did my own hair. I was afraid of the regular hair colors in the store so I bought a vegetable herbal hair dye from Dr Be Wells, worked great!

My colorist did Loving Care or some nonsense on my hair a month ago. It washed right out. She thinks highlights are OK for the same reasons posted above, but I haven't asked my ob/gyn yet.

Re: Coloring your hair while pg
My doctor told me it would be ok to use a vegetable based dye on my hair...without me asking even!
But so far, I haven't touched my hair. I don't mind the gray all that much...I like how it contrasts with my young looking face. And I don't feel like taking unnecessary risks.

Re: Coloring your hair while pg
I was told to wait until I was out of the first trimester to color my hair. I had it done once ( single process) in the 2nd and just had it done again this week.
