Epidural Spinoff
This may sound like a stupid question but for me personally, the needles dont bother me, its the medication entering my body that freaks me out. (I know, its strange)
Anyway, is an epidural like "all or nothing" or are there different doses of it? I was thinking that I definitely do not want any pain killers (cant think of the name of that popular one) but I am not 100% against an epidural but maybe they can give me an epi that takes the "edge off". Or does it not work that way?
TIA

I am this way too
I dont mind needles at all
I dont like losing control/feelign of my legs not controlling the meds etc.
There are versions of the epi that are called "walkign epi's" ...to not give you as much meds.

TIA This is also exactly my problem. Once they inject you they cannot take it out. I freak about this more than the needle & the actual process of getting an injection.

Ohhh really? I think when the time gets closer I will ask my doctor about this. That sounds exactly what I am looking for. I happen to luckily have a high threshold for pain and a low threshold for taking medication so with both of those things I am hoping to go natural but then again, I never felt labor before so I am weighing all the options. Thanks for the info.

Re: Epidural Spinoff
You can read a lot about the pros and cons of different drugs (and much more) in the book - "The Thinking Women's Guide to a Better Birth".
