? about folly scan
I am newish to the board, I introduced myself a couple months ago . I have been off bcp for 19 months and I finally got the OK from all my doctors to TTC last cycle. I have pcos ( among other things) and am on Metformin. My doctor wants me to come in on CD12 for a scan to check my follies. If they look good he said I may have the option of taking a trigger. I have no idea what to expect at this appointment. Now the embarrassing part. I am assuming it is an internal sonogram since he has to see the ovaries but I am not sure. Can anyone who has had this done fill me in? My family does not know I am TTC so I can't ask my mom (a nurse). I don't want to walk in blind. So what can I expect and any suggestions on whether or not I should take the trigger. Thanks ladies I really appreciate any advice you can give.

I don't know anything about the trigger shots. I just did clomid/met. But yes, it would be an internal scan. I was nervous my first time, but by the millionth, it was no big deal. it does not hurt at all.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: ? about folly scan
Just had one today. It is basically a long skinny phallic shaped object that they insert with some warming lube on it and take a peek. I have found it uncomfortable when he is trying toi get a view of my left ovary because it "hides" according to my Dr. Pretty painless though.

And if you go on any drugs(clomid, follistim, etc) you will probably have to get them pretty regularly anyway so its good that you know what to expect

I'm on Met too. I've heard the trigger shot is not bad at all, it just makes the egg(s) drop for ovulation.

Re: ? about folly scan
My DH says the scanner looks like ET's finger, if that helps at all
Good luck to you!

Re: ? about folly scan
The trigger is a shot usually given in the belly that brings on ovulation in 12 -36 hours. I needed it for IUI.
