WHat happens after an offer is accepted?

OK so when an offer is accepted
you are on your way to a contract

Now if you are putting in the paperwork for a mortgage for the first time how long does that take to do?

I am told it will be 7-10 days to contract is that true?

You should first find a lawyer and get an inspection scheduled. The length of time to contract varies, it took us a little over 2 weeks. We weren't using a realtor so it was a little slower.

For the mortgage part, we were pre-commited beforehand, so it didn't take too long. We have a broker and he didn't start working on the commitment until we were in contract. It didn't take that long a couple of days, just have statements for all of your accounts and your last two paystubs handy!
