Lightheadedness?

Anyone else getting this?

I was in my office this morning talking to a co-worker and all of a sudden everything went black and my heart was beating really fast and I couldn't catch my breath.

The whole episode was almost over before it began and I felt normal again almost instantly.

My coworker took me to the nurse's office downstairs. Nurse took my BP, and it was a little low but other than that she didn't see anything wrong with me.

I've already called my doctor to let them know, but I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this.

I'm 31 weeks today.

Re: Lightheadedness?

Sounds like bp to me. Thats what happens to me when my BP drops. It coudl have dropped drastically and then by the time you had it taken it was up a little.

BP drops like that are very common in PG until the late 3rd trimester.

Try not to worry, Its definitly nothing huge. Im sure the Dr. Will ease your mind as well. Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA- Also..when was the last Bloodwork you had? Were you anemic? That could cause that too.

I haven't experienced lightheadedness -- not yet, anyway -- but I do know that it's a common symptom. Chat Icon

Re: Lightheadedness?

That happens to me (before I got preggo) due to low BP. The MD wants me to be careful of it during the pregnancy b/c my BP is usually low, and will apparently be lowered now that I'm pregnant (earlier this week it was 88/60).

Anyway, a little OJ or something salty helps when you start to feel this way.

Re: Lightheadedness?

I have experienced this I posted about it before too. It would happen to me inthe morning after I had some tea with sugar or something sweet for breakfast and a few times I threw up right after the episodeChat Icon

Well anyways my doctor told me to lay off the sugar. He said My blood sugar level was too high and then it would crash causing me to feel lightheaded and dizzy like I was gonna pass out. Also I am big sugar person so I have like 6 or 7 spoonfulls of sugar in my tea in the morning and then to top it off some sweet cerealChat Icon I was definately over doing it.

Re: Lightheadedness?

That is what keeps happening to me...they sent me to the hospital twice now and said my blood sugar was coming up really low, also my BP. So, I was told to make sure I am eating and drinking lots of fluids.

Re: Lightheadedness?

Thanks everyone.

Alicia, I had a BIG bowl of Applejacks this morning and it happened about two hours after I ate that.

Now I'm wondering if it was a sugar crash like you said.

I was SO quick and so scary. I'm just glad it didn't happen while I was driving. Chat Icon

YES...totally sugar based on what you said.

If it happens again, have juice or OJ right away, and if you dont have that soda. At least 2 cups and you should feel better.

yup that sure sounds like it might be it. You may want to try to limit the sugar intake unless you have it with some kind of starch atleast that is what my doctor said.Chat Icon
