Glucose Test
I know this was posted not too long ago, but I searched & couldn't find it
When did you all go for your 1-hour tests? I just got the script for it tonight, my fabulous doctor said to 'ah, go within the next few weeks I guess'. Very helpful (I'm 24 weeks presently)
Also, he told me that the lab recommends fasting for it, but he said that morning I should have a plain piece of toast and could have water, otherwise he knows people can get sick from it. But he said to lie to the lab and tell them I fasted. Sounds odd to me, but I'll do it.

Re: Glucose Test
I just went when I was almost 25 weeks. I am waiting to find out the results.
If your dr. says to have toast then I would def. recommend it - I was STARVING!!!
The drink itself wasn't terrible - it tastes like flat Sunkist - the bad part is that you are basically chugging it in 2 minutes so that the hour can start (or at least that's what I did)
I would go whenever you can schedule it within the next couple of weeks.

Re: Glucose Test
Just dont eat anything too sweet the night before. I had to take the 3 hr b/c I came too close to failing the 1 hour but then the dr asked if I ate anything sweet the night before (of course I did, I am pregnant!), I had a piece of chocolate cake the night before, but I figured it would be ok b/c I was going for the test 10 hours later....no such luck

Same thing happened to me. I had a piece of toast the morning of too. Honestly, unless it makes you too sick, skip it, its better than taking the 3 hour test.
I took the 1 hour at like 27 weeks and the 3 hour just before 30 weeks.

Re: Glucose Test
I limited sweets the day before the test. I did not eat breakfast. I took the test, they took blood and then i went to work.....and then I got all shakey and not myself for a while. My sugar went from LOW to HIGH and back to low

Re: Glucose Test
My doctor gave me the prescription for the test at 27 weeks and told me to go within a week. Target in this situation being 28 weeks.
I was told that I was allowed to eat - that it was non-fasting - but the woman at the lab took three viles. One before the drink and two after. Fortunately I was sick the night before and couldn't keep anything down so I didn't eat but that morning I had plain scrambled eggs. We'll see what happens.
Just like Diana - I had the flat sunkist tasting drink. Not too bad really.
