Question about Sales agreement (offer)

Hi
We received a faxed copy of the sales agreement that we'll be signing to submitt an official offer to a seller of a house we'd like to purchase. Our REA checked off the following buyers acknowledgement "waved the opportunity to conduct a risk assessment or inspection for the presence of lead based paint and/or lead based paint hazards". Does anyone know why we would want to wave this?

TIA

Re: Question about Sales agreement (offer)

was the house built before 1978? if so, then you dont need to have the house checked for lead paint. if not, then you're realtor is supposed to give you the option to have it checked or not, they should not be making that decision for you. did he/she give you the pamphlet regarding your rights with lead based paint?

Oops, i worded that wrong! if the house was built AFTER 1978 then you dont need to have it checked. however, since the house was built in 1967 then there have to be at least 20 layers of paint on top since. so you shouldnt really worry about it. even if you tell your inspector to check for it, they'll just say that lead paint is not something to be concerned about.
