Informal offer?
We are going to be making an offer on a house tomorrow. I had asked the REA to either fax it to DH's office, or bring the paperwork tomorrow. He wants to know right now what the offer is.
DH and I don't feel comfortable telling him what our offer is at this point without the paperwork in front of us.
Do we tell him what the offer is "informally" right now? Or do we wait to do it when we have the paperwork in front of us tomorrow.
(the REA is working for the seller, btw)

Re: Informal offer?
We gave our offer verbally, then we signed on it two days later and the REA was working for the seller as well. Is there other offers pending? If so, I would submitt a verbal offer, the longer you wait, the greater chance they may accept another offer

Re: Informal offer?
I don't see any harm in waiting until tomorrow. The house has been on the market for awhile now and nothing's happened.
You even know the price range they're looking for and still it hasn't moved... It sounds to me like the REA is just putting some undue pressure on you to make an offer.
Like I said earlier, the REA wants to sell this place so they can make their commission so naturally there's a vested interest in getting your bid in.
Sit tight, we're talking less than 24 hours.

Re: Informal offer?
Just curious why you would wait for the paperwork?
With both houses we gave our offer verbally and then dealt with the paperwork.

Re: Informal offer?
We gave a verbal offer to our broker. I am assumming he completed whatever paperwork was necessary. We negotiated back and forth until we agreed on the purchase price. I didn't sign anything until I was reviewing the contracts with my attorney.
It is scary, but I don't think having the paperwork is relevant.

We gave a verbal offer and then signed the contract a couple of weeks later.

Re: Informal offer?
all the "paperwork" will be is the amt of your offer, the amt of the downpayment, and how much more you would be putting down at closing, and your requested closing date. It would also have the concession if you are doing that. You can have your REA present the offer without you signing it, you can go ahead and sign if the offer is accepted.

Re: Informal offer?
I know you already placed a verbal offer, but we did a formal offer. We worked with the seller's realtor also. I found this gave us a huge leg up on the other two people bidding on the home.
Good luck Vanessa!
