Being Induced
At my 12 week appointment yesteday we found out that I will be induced. It's because of a medication I am on (Lovenox, a blood thinner). Although I wish I weren't on this medication , we really like the idea of being induced. No guessing as to what day it's going to happen, etc. I'll know the exact birthday of the baby (they will induce 1 week before the due date). Makes it easier to plan. If it wasn't deemed medically necessary for me to be induced, I wouldn't mess with nature but since it is, I really like to the idea of it. Anyone else being induced?

I could be wrong, but I *think* stephanief is being induced a week early bc she's taking a blood thinner also.

Re: Being Induced
I am being induced a week early, but its due to high blood pressure. I am fine with it, makes life a little easier and unless I go earlier than that, I will be prepared

Re: Being Induced
I am on Lovenox too and no one has mentioned anything to me about being induced. I'm almost 24 weeks along now, you would think my dr. would have said something!

Yes, you CANNOT have an epidural if you are on Lovenox...my hematologist is switching me to Heparin on March 5th just to be safe.....I am being induced on March 22nd but if I do go earlier, it is better to be on Heparin as that only stays in your system for 8-10 hours as opposed to lovenox which stays in your system for 24 hours.
Ask you doctor about inducing. Basically, if my baby does NOT come early, I will simply skip my injection of heparin on MArch 21st and then go in on the 22nd to be induced,.....This way I can get the epidural

LMAO, I don;t get them anymore but let me tell you that when I inject myself on the left side...wowza
on the right, no pain....
I hope the heparin does not hurt any more, the doctor said it is the same needle, I just need to do it twice a day and I need to fill the syringe myself, they do not come pre-filled
Then after birth, it is back to the lovenox for 6 weeks and then no more shots, just daily dose of folic acid forever

Wow -- I haven't even discussed what comes AFTER yet. Although after my first IVF my RE just had me on baby aspirin so maybe it isn't so "bad" - he was also going to take me off completely after the first trimester. But my OB decided better safe than sorry.
Funny, it hurts me SO MUCH on the RIGHT and not at ALL on the left!!

There is also a reversal agent for heparin and not with Lovenox. So if you go into labor early you woudl not be able to get an epifural with Lovenox whereas with heparin you could because they could use the reverse agent if necessary

I may be induced a week early for the same reason. I was anxious about the idea, but my friends who've been through it said that it's no big deal.

This is exactly what my doctors told me. With Lovenox there is a small chance of bleeding and an Anesthesiologist won't touch you. I guess if you are going au natural it's okay-but even then if you needed an emergency C-section I don't know if there would be complications. Maybe another type of anesthesia?

Re: Being Induced
Does the heparin hurt as much as Lovenox? I don't look forward to injections twice a day instead of once/day. I think I'll request to be induced early so that I don't have to do heparin for so long.

I'm already doing Lovenox twice a day, so if Heparin is twice a day too, it won't be so bad for me. I just hope it doesn't sting like the Lovenox.

I was told the heparin needles are the same as the lovenox so the pain will be the same...honestly, the shots do not bother me at all...I am used to them

There is a chance of paralysis as well if you have the epidural while on lovenox....
