Why are people are NOT leaving
I just don't get why people would rather stay and slowly die than to be evacuated???

I heard something on the news last night that some of the people that were trapped in their houses thought that they have to pay money to be rescued - and they didn't have any.

Oh, that's really sad. And looked what happened to the people who were evacuated...they were sent to a place that wasn't equipped with any food or water. Maybe they're just afraid. It's so sad!

Did anyone else hear that they are not giving water to the people who are opting to stay? Thats how bad they are trying to get them out!

I don't get it either, maybe they just can't let go, these were their lives.
I just heard on the news that Nassau and Suffolk are asking people to "open their doors" to evacuees down south. They are going to turn a wing of Brunswick Hospital into temporary housing and they are looking into local hotels and vacant apartments for them.

There are people sitting on the porch and telling the rescue workes "no, i'm not going". At this point, I'm sorry, but they are fools.
I heard something on CNN about the possibity of forced evacuations...forcing people against their will to leave, that will be interesting.
You know what ticks me off is that these "straglers" 9as they are being called on the news) are holding up the city being cleaned up. Do you know how many people spend all day trying to get these straglers to leave?? All that time they could be putting to use cleaning up the city...

I'm not sure I understand why anyone is refusing to leave...I know they may not have money or don't know where they'll go...or they just can't leave their lives behind...but, do they know that if they stay they'll die?!?!

I saw an old Women saying her Dog was liek her family and she lived alone for 10 years with her dog and they wouldnt let her take him , so she would rather stay.
There was a group of residents saying they had intruders try to break in twice to their houses and their houses really werent in the flood waters, they were just without water/electric and didnt want to leave and risk the looters destroying their house that they would be able to re-build at this point...
There was a man whos wife just died and he didnt want to leave all her belongings to looters and they wouldnt allow him to take all her stuff..
Stories like that , there are a TON of them , and I kinda understand. I think i would feel similair if I was alone in the world as these people do.
But they need to go or risk death, and some of them I just dont get why they cant see that...
