Makes me sick! To think what kind of house you could get and the prices out of NY. NY is way too overpriced. You can buy a mansion for half the price of a house in NY.

nice homes, but I would never live in Texas. Been there and didn't like it.

While they are beautiful I agree, I would not want to leave family, firiends and everyone I know for a bigger home. The one thing I have learned about Long Island is that it is posible to live here, you may need to buy a less expensive home and put money into it. I live in Suffolk in a less expensive area and my DH and I will be putting money into building our dream home. I am fortunate...we bought tihs house when prices were still VERY cheap but I think something people need to keep in mind when shopping on Long Island is that there are some locations you can't touch for an insane amount of money (Nassau) but here are others that may be further east (in Suffolk) but are affordable and you can really create your dream home...I guess you can sacrifice paying more for location or paying less for more of a commute..

I actually don't really get that depressed over prices like this anymore. I went and looked in North Carolina, Virgina and hated it!! Great I have a big beautiful house, in the middle of no where, with no family or friends around.

Also, I started not caring about having such a big house. The older I get, the more I realize that a big house isn't everything. I rather love where I live!

Re: So for $270,000

My brother lives in Houston. he is single and has a gorgeous home that I would die for an all for under 300,000...

He did not take any paycut at all.. Pediatricians make more in Houston then they do in NY and you have to remember if you take a job in Texas there is no state income tax which is a very big plus to your income.. So people who say htey would take a paycut would probably end up making a cdecent amount..

He has made a nice life for himself down there and I could not be happier for him..

I would never move away like he did, I like being close to our family and friends, So we have to pay the price to stay in NY...
