Too Soon to Call for Quotes
Hey Ladies, Do you think it is too soon for me to begin calling up security alarm companies for quotes? Our closing date is 3/7/07 and the owners will be gone by then (they are moving to Carolina 2/21/07 and are just coming up for the walk through and closing). Thanks

I would wait until after the owner's leave, so if the companies need to come around for a estimate to see the house, you don't bother the current owner's.

Re: Too Soon to Call for Quotes
I am sure you can get quotes over the phone so you can have some kind of idea of how much it will cost, and then when you close you can have them come in if they have to.

that's true too. This way I can weed out some companies.

Re: Too Soon to Call for Quotes
well luckily its a condo and has the front door, 1 large window in the living room, 2 bedroom windows (both doubles) and a small kitchen window so hopefully it won't be too bad. Maybe I'll call and see. Again its only quotes so I could weed out the ones that are ridiculously expensive or shady.

I tried this -- over the phone you can get what the monthly monitoring fee is. You'll need to have someone at the house to give you an installation estimate. All of the companies run promos for this, but what you want/need will ultimately determine the cost.
Be careful when you have someone over though -- some guys will try to sell you the world.
