Sick--Who to Call?- Update
I've been battling a wicked headcold or worse since Friday, and it's not really getting better. I'm thinking I may have laryngitis or bronchitis 
Anyway...who do I need to go to? My regular doctor I'm assuming, right? Not my OBGYN? Just make sure I make it known to my regular doctor that I'm pregnant and only want to take something that's really necessary? If I go to the regular doctor, I may drop by by OBGYN office (it's right next door to other Dr.) and show them the Rx if I'm given one, just to make sure it's safe to take...I just hate taking anything right now

Go to your reg dr, make sure to tell them you are pg, they will look up drugs that are okay for you if you need them.
I would still run it by my OB/GYN to be sure.

I would call the OB first...they likely can prescribe you with something...mine did in my last pregnancy for the flu. Your reg. dr. might think/feel a drug is safe that your OB would not allow.

I agree.
Also just a word of caution - check your prescription after the pharmacist gives it to you. WHen I was breastfeeding I was given the wrong RX, took it & then realized that it was wrong. It was a class of medication you can't take while breastfeeding.

I had the same thing and called my OB and they told me to go to my regular dr. and just tell them I'm pregnant. Feel better!

Thanks for the advice ladies.
Just got back from the Dr (regular doctor). It's a bacterial infection that won't go away by itself, so he prescribed Amoxicillin 500mg, three times a day. I stopped at my OBGYN's office, the nurse took the prescription in to one of the Drs. and came back and said it was perfectly fine to take. So, I guess I better take it, but I hate taking it while pregnant!!! But I need to get better, it's not good having an infection in my body with the baby, plus I have a heart issue that I really shouldn't compromise with an infection either.

I just went to the doc on Thursday. They also gave me a prescript for a Z pack due to bronchitis. Of course I called my OB after I got the prescript to make sure it was ok to take. Sure enough Im on my last day of meds today and feel 100000% better!

Yup, I have to take amox before dental work too--I have a bicuspid aorta w/stenosis, have had it since birth! Do you have to have a fetal echo? I have to go for one Thurs.
