IMO, it's whatever you're comfortable with. We told our parents as soon as we found out and it was confirmed by the doctor (6 or 7 weeks I think). We eventually told our siblings and closest friends, around weeks 8-10. We wanted to hold off on telling everyone else until at least 12 weeks, which we did.

Re: Would it be stupid to...

I waited to tell my family until my first doctors appt, so the doctor would confirm the pregnancy.
I had to go to the doctor during my 5th week, due to bleeding. At that time, we made the decision to only tell our parents.
We waited to tell the rest of the family until I was in my 10-11 week.
But mine was for personal reasons (due to complications I had in the beginning).

But the decision is entirely up to you! Chat Icon

My RE confirmed the pregnancy the day after I got my BFP, we told your family that day. I had been trying for over a year and I could not keep it a secret.

Re: Would it be stupid to...

So far only DH and a very close friend that was also TTC-ing know. I am going to tell my Mom and 2 sisters this weekend. I can't hold it in. I would also want there support in case anything happened. All my sisters told my Mom over the phone right after there BFP, I want to tell her to her face.

Re: Would it be stupid to...

I think it's a personal decision. I definitely feel more comfortable waiting.

When I got pg in Nov, I had a miscarriage at 5 1/2 wks (not saying this will happen to you) but I am so glad I didn't tell my family. I think it would constantly be brought up, even if just out of concern & it would've been harder to deal with.

Right now, I'm about 7 1/2 wks & will tell my family at around 10-11 wks. I know once I tell one person, the whole family will know.

It's really up to you

We experienced something similar. I told our parents when I started to go to the Dr once a week, which was around 7 weeks. I was communting from Manhattan a tthe time, so if DH had to pick me up at Mineola train instead of Babylon, then the ILs had to walk our dogs. They thought that I was really sick with something horrible for having to go so much, so we decided to tell them once we confirmed a heartbeat & had out second sono.

The rest of the family we told at 12 weeks, which was Thanksgiving Chat Icon

I told everyone except work right away. If something bad happens, I would want my family and friends to be there for me.

Re: Would it be stupid to...

We told as soon as we found out. We decided, even before we knew, that we wanted to tell people good news. If we lost the baby, then we weren't telling people for the first time when it was sad news. And we wanted as many prayers as possible.
