Re: what do you use for your skin?
Good question, I thought we couldn't use any acne products that sit on your skin for a while like Clearasil. My doctor said that an acne wash in the shower is ok though. I am using Noxema triple clean facial wash.

I can COMPLETELY feel your pain. My skin has been horrible since I first found out I was PG, and it has not gotten any better, and I'm 18 weeks!!!! I have been using toothpaste on my big pimples, but don't think I ever asked my Dr. if it was ok because I figured it was just toothpaste (plain, paste kind, nothing special), but I probably should ask. Doesn't seem to do wonders anyway...

Re: what do you use for your skin?
My skin is a mess right now. My derm told me since I am not ovulating anymore it should clear up but I don't believe her. I have to call my doc and see if I can use the script she gave me.

I read this in a magazine years and years ago. Before I was PG, my skin was great, I'd use the toothpaste on my occassional pimple (it works best on the ones you can tell are going to be big ones, it helps dry them out early). But, like I said, I never asked my Dr. if it was safe during PG because I didn't think toothpaste could be bad (again, it's just plain Crest paste, no bells & whistles). I should definitely ask though, although I've been doing it since day 1 practically It doesn't seem to work as effectively as before I was PG, but my skin is worse now than I think it was even as a teenager--looks like I have chicken pox or measles, especially on my forehead. I'm hoping it clears up soon!!

THis one always get mixed info on this board. I used just the repairing/zit cream of Proactiv for years, loved it. Doctor said I shouldn't use it, not enough reasearch on it. So I stopped using it. But I know lots and lots of ladies here still used it with no problems...it would have solved my problem I think.

I just plain old Neutragena, doesn't do fabulous, but my skin isn't horrible, basically the same as it was pre-PG

Re: what do you use for your skin?
No suggestiosn but I feel your pain my skin has never looked this bad- ever!
This has been one of the worst parts of my pregnancy. Never had skin issues that I can recall. But since the beginning it gets worse every day and I'm 25 wks.
My dr told me to buy make-up ( I never wear make-up) and deal with it- in a very nice way. I went to a dermatologist and they said since I've never had acne before its hormonal and not bacterial and will go away when they baby gets here- and all the lovely scars should fade. Until then they disagree with me not being able to use topical medications but I will listen to my OB and tough it out. I plan to undergo some intensive glycolic peels and microdermabraision sessions this summer
it still bothers me more than it should. I'm embarrassed to look at people.

I totally think it depends on the dr and their views, and your own views.
Doc told me Salyctic acid, retinol A, Q10, etc are bad and no no's, but Benzoyoil (sp) peroxide, that PRoctiv has is fine. There's def different views on here, and for me, DD was fine, my pg was fine, and it was worth it to feel wondeful with a clear face and control something when i ZERO control of anything else.
I have a laid back dr, as long i am comfy doing so, i can eat anything i want, in moderation of course, I got the okay to eat anything pasteurized-even soft cheeses, cold cuts, hot dogs, even pepperoni. they don't even tell me my weight gain at each appt. They don't believe in stressing out a mommy when PG is stressful enough.
Just read the labels, some facial cleansers do have that salyctic acid in it.
When my face is too dry for proactiv, i use PUrpose face wash.

My Dr. has said the same thing-- just something you have to deal with, like some women have morning sickness and can't do much about it. He wasn't being insensitive, just bluntly honest. I am also completely embarassed, I feel like I look like a teenager going through puberty!

Interesting. (I'm not pregnant) but I get about 2-3 days a month when my skin is clear and it's when I ovulate. Obviously everyone's different, I just found this curious.
