Thank you eveyone for you kind comments. James loves his baby sister. He seems to be adjusting very well to being the nig brother. DH and I are just very careful to keep him involved, and to make sure to avoid jealousy as much as possible.

I went into labor around 9pm on the 8th....although I truely thought that it was just braxton hicks...until about midnight...then I realized that the contractions were more frequent and lasting longer and becoming painful. I starting timing and each contraction was within 10 min. of the last one.

I wanted to wait for DH to wake up for work and then call my Dr....I knew I was having a C-section so there really was no reason for my to wait out the labor. wouldn't you know I finally got comfortable and was able to fall asleep somewhere around 4am...DH gets up for work around 5:30am...and leaves the house at about 6am...and I actually slept through it. So he never even knew I was in labor when he left for work.

I woke up around 6:20am...the contraction were even stonger...and I was upset that I didn't hear DH get up and that I let him go to work...I realized I should have left him a note on the bathroom mirror or something

I took a shower...basically to shave my legs. Then I called my sister who came over around 7:45am. I got James up, dresses and feed him breakfast.

I decided that since I was tollerating the contractions pretty well...that I would wait until the Dr's office opened to call in...which was at 9am. I spoke the receptionist...who said that my Dr. was already at the hospital, and that she would call him and see what he wanted me to do.

My Dr. called me back around 9:15am....he said that he is scheduled to do another C-section at 11am...so take my time but head over to the hospital...he also said to wait to call DH...because he may send me home.

So I then called my father who came and picked up James...who would be staying with my parents while I was in the hospital. Then my sister and I headed over to Stony Brook. By the time we parked the car and got to the 8th floor it was 10:45am.

They brought me into one of the Triage rooms...hooked me up to the fetal monitor...I had no idea my contractions were as strong as they were reading on the monitor...The resident Dr. came in to do a very painful internal...painful because Marianna was so low in my pelvis. She said that I was 80% effaced and only 1 Centimeter dialeted and the baby was in a -1 position. She said that if I remained at only 1 cent. I would probably be going home.

DH happened to call me just to see how my day was going...I told him that I was at Stony Brook...but the Resident thought that I would be going home...so he didn't need to rush home...DH of course didn't listen and headed towards the hospital.

My Dr. came in around 12:15pm...started to examine me and felt the baby's head with his finger tips...so he said that I either progressed since the resident examined me...or she was wrong in her assesment. He said that we can either do the C-section then....or send me home and wait till my water broke...which he figured would be sometime that night. So we agreed that since I was already there we should do the section then.

I was so happy that DH is stuborn and was already on his way to Stony Brook...because things went very fast at this point. I was preped...and DH got there just as they were taking me back to the OR.

I was a little nervous about the 1st needle that you recieve in your spine...but it really was no big deal...I was just anticipating it a little too much. One of the Dr.'s stood on my right and gave me a play by play of what was happening...DH was on my left...we just starred into each other's eyes....I think we were both holding our breath until we heard our little girl cry.

They cleaned her up...and then DH got to hold her...while they finished up with me...(I had my tubes tied also)

We then went to recovery...and I got to nurse Marianna right away....Dh and I were so happy to experience such a happy birth experience. We missed out on that feeling with James...because he was so premature. We truely are blessed to have such beautiful healthy children. I Thank God for watching over my children and keeping them safe. Our babies are so precious. I wish everyone here to have a safe and healthy delivery for both baby and mommy.
