? on a offer for a house

OK there is a house we like selling for 409
Needs A LOT of work

We looked the house up and looked at comparable sales for that house
In March 2006 the same house went for 371

is asking 360 an ok bid and let them counter offer but my premise is on a recent sale and that house was in decent shape for 371

Re: ? on a offer for a house

Listen, if you love the house, don't bid low! We offered $25,000 less than asking price (based on comps in the area) last week and lost the house to someone who bid full price. We are kicking ourselves. The weather has been nice and people are cashing in on the low interest rates for mortgages!!! P.S. Someone else put a bid in at the same time and we were never given the opportunity to counter! We could have afforded full asking price and figured we had room to negociate...we were wrong!Chat Icon

I get what you are saying, but this house went off the market b/c they couldnt sell it. So we were going to go talk to them about buying it directly from them. Hopefully they are still motivated to sell

Re: ? on a offer for a house

Go for it! Some of the houses we originally looked at last spring have dropped HUGE amounts. One was listed 500K, and they wouldn't accept an offer under 475, and now they are asking 420!

If it has been on and off the market, they may be willing to accept a lower offer (or they can just counterbid)
