If you are Breast Feeding-what items do you need to Register for?
Is it the same items if you were planning on using formula?

Not really because you have to buy the accessories that go with the pump even if you are renting one. Plus, I bought extra breastshields and storage bottles. I did buy Avent bottles for "just in case" because they are said to be the best for breastfed babies because they are most like the natural nipple. They have a starter kit for nursing moms that you can use for storage too.

well if you are going back to work you'll need an electric pump. I think most ladies like the Medela Pump in Style. Extra medela bottles are good too for pumping and then the freezer bags.
breast pads are needed if Bfing or FFing - but you may want to get the medicated ones. I just used Avent and liked them.
I agree to have bottles around. It frees you up to get out of the house by yourself. I liked the avent.
If you just plan to pump occassionaly, you may just want to register for a small hand pump. The avent isis did very well for me, until I moved to the electric. Maybe it's good to go this route, so you can see if it works for you without buying the electric pump - or you may need to rent the hospital one.

I figured I would get the manual pump to start - since you never know if BF is really going to work anyway. Then if I needed it I would later get the more $$ electric one -- but, does it make you feel like a cow? Honestly, I can't imagine pumping from both breasts at once...

It's a blessing to be able to pump from both sides at once.
