Re: hybrid hondas
My co-worker has an Accord hybrid. She's had it for about 3 years now and gets about 50 mpg.
She got it right before prices started to jump due to the war.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a waiting list for them now.

Re: hybrid hondas
I would check out the Prius before the Accord or Civic - they're said to have better mileage and just be better hybrids all around since the entire car was designed for that purpose.
Also, please note that there is never any 1 reason for increases like we've seen in gas prices. War or no war, these prices were creeping up for years and were headed this way. If you don't agree, look at the price for a liter of petrol in Europe - we've been really lucky until now.

The reason why the prices have been so high in Europe for so long is because they must import ALL of their oil... at least Britain, Italy and the rest of Western Europe. We have our own domestic reserves (Texas, Alaska) but our daily demand is so high we must supplement with oil from the OPEC nations and Saudi Arabia is the largest producer.

3 years? This just came out in 2004 for the accord.....
The civic has had it since 2003 I believe
And then there is the insight which has been a hybrid since its creation back in 1999, 2000

Oh, sorry it is the civic. She had a 100% gas powered one before. She travels all highway miles to work. From Coram to Seaford.

August 2005 The most fuel-efficient cars that CR has tested
Among Consumer Reports' vehicle test criteria are measurements of fuel economy. Our fuel economy numbers come from our measurements using a precision flow meter and are rounded to the nearest mile per gallon (mpg).
CR's overall mileage is calculated from equal portions of city and expressway driving and on a 150-mile trip.
The chart that follows features the 10 most fuel-efficient cars that Consumer Reports has tested. Also see our Ratings comparison by category (available to subscribers), which lists each vehicle's overall mileage. (Find out how you can compare these cars and get unlimited price reports with the Consumer Reports New Car Buying Kit.)
