DH just informed me he will be away working in Chicago May 19-23

I am due May 1st!! Do I have a right to be mad about this?

I really didnt think I would be home taking care of a newborn by myself in the 1st month!!!

am i being selfish?

this wil make you fee l better:

when our baby is about 3 weeks old, my DH will be going back out to sea for 5 weeks. I don't quite know how i'm going to manage.

I don't think he should make plans to be away until you know how things are going. A) you could be 2 weeks late and then you will barely be home from the hospital when he leaves. B)IF you need a c/s you will need more help that first month C)you need to see how things are going with you and the baby

I would ask him to stay flexiable on these dates. I would not be mad, but would want him to understand my position and take it very seriously.

How can you be mad? Upset,sure but not mad at him...doesn't he have to work? I guess I find it easier to cope with job requirements since DH is Navy and duty calls all the time. Sure it would be great if you DH could be home, and maybe he can find a way, but if he has to work try not to make him feel than he does. Besides jobs don't honor new fathers like they do the mother, right or wrong, so he may not get much support.

I would be upset...but it is his job. My DH had to go back immediately after the birth of our daughter, since he owns his own business. Maybe a family member can stay to help you out.

Well, it really depends on his job.

I know my DH is in HR and no trip is THAT important that he would NEED to be there on those dates.

Being in the military is different, IMO, and you kind of know schedules are going to be difficult.

Can he talk to his boss and see if he MUST be there, explaining the situation?

I would be upset too.

I'm a bit nervous about that too as my husband must travel for work at least once a month, he's in national sales.

My DH is missing his companies trade show in CA in March to be home with me. Despite my April 18th due date, my twins will not be born any later than April 4th (38 weeks is full gestation for twins).

He does have another show for April 18 for three or four days back out in CA. He can't miss this one.
My MIL willl be living with me for those days because the feedings with twins are literally round the clock. It takes 45 minutes to feed each one and they feed every two hours so at most I have a half hour in between, round the clock. I need at least one other person in the house all of the time at that stage.

It stinks but there's nothing we can do. It's not their faulgt.

Maybe you could have someone come stay with you or help you a few hours a day? A family member or friend perhaps?

Was he planning on taking a month off?

If he has to go he has to go. Even with the c-section I could have managed a few nights on my own that early.

If you go late that could be the issue.

I dont think "mad" is what you should be... upset and sad yeah... but mad-- no- unless he was taking off for some bachelor party somewhere....

DH is Air Force and will not be with me for the last 2 months, the delivery, or 2 months after.... I am sad he wont be there-- but things like this happen...
