Carpeting

Where did you go? How much?

We just got a quote from Home Depot that I thought was ridiculous. They quoted a 15X16 Master BR with an 8X9 attached closet, middle of the line carpeting with padding and installation at $1900!!!!!! Is that a little high or is that what carpeting costs? I have some other private guy coming tomorrow night to look, but I am prepared for him to not show up or be too high...Any suggestions? Input? I think Montauk Carpet probably has the best prices and a huge selection. You might even be able to find a reminant piece that large. They are on RT110 in Farmingdale

Re: Carpeting

We used a place in Seaford called Kelley Floors on Sunrise Hwy. Their prices were great - after having checked out a few places including HD and being Chat Icon Chat Icon at the prices.

Re: Carpeting

high quality carpeting is really expensive - we were stunned when we started our hunt! We went to a local store but wanted really thick carpeting since we're on a slab - so it was $$$ but it'll last a while.

Best advice is just to shop around - we went to about 3-4 different places to get quotes and look at samples.

Carpeted two bedrooms, living room, and dining room for about $2500 from a place in patchogue. It's just east on 112 on the sunrise highway service road. Right near Chuck E Cheese's and Home Depot.

Re: Carpeting

We used Empire on Rt 110. They were very reasonable and we were able to negotiate.

Make sure you have extra thick padding. That will help keep your carpet in good condition for a long time.

Re: Carpeting

We used Carpet Depot (next to the JC Penney Home Store near Smithhaven Mall).
We got our bedroom and 3 staircases and a small hallway for less than your quote.
