i really need to vent

ok so DH is a head baseball coach at a college. This is his passion and his second love. His season starts in Feb. He actually travels alot for this. from Feb-May he will really wont be around at all. On my due date (2/24)his team is going to N.C. and then 2 1/2 weeks later they travel to F.L for 8 days. We discussed that he will not be going on the NC trip but i was ok with him going to the FL trip, i am going to stay at my sisters during that time with the baby......
well what is annoying me is that he keeps saying that he hopes that i go early ...bc he really wants to go to NC. he told me today that if i deliver 2/5 hes going!. we were out to eat when he sprang this on me so i couldnt flip out... but i just cried and said" u know Im not complaining that your going to FL and im not complainign that the fact that basically u are going to miss your daughers first 3 months bc u will never be around but now u are going to NC if deliver early?" He said to me , "its my job" i was just so stunned and for the first time i was completely speechless. i normally am one to always rebut and argue back but i really am so upset that i cant even look or talk 2 him
by the way this a side job for us...

I understand how you feel. I would be upset also. I would try and talk to him and tell him how you feel and that this hurts you. He may change his mind as the date comes closer and especially after he holds the baby for the first time. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: i really need to vent

I understand to well how you are feeling.. My DH is a football coach and said if I was ever to deliver during a game he would have to wait till the end of the game to come... I am lucky I am due in May.... I am sure when your baby is born he is not leaving... He says it now that he will go but I bet he wont

I'm sorry you are so sad.

Just to play devil's advocate, could his job be pressuring him about the trip? I know that as much as he may not have wanted to, my DH would be expected to go on a business trip if it was 3 weeks after the baby was born.

I would have been just as upset. I dont think he is thinking about the situation. NC would have definilty been out of the question but probably also FL for me. If he has control over it. If he doesnt then I would just be really disapointed. When I delievered my Dh's boss decided to change his travel plans and went to Isreal for 2-3 weeks the day I went into labor. He knew I was due the following week . The thing with DH's company is that either he or his boss have to be their. Dh was only home with me for the weekend and monday (i devilered on a thursday so he was their friday also) Tuesday he went back to work half day, actually came home at 4 and same thing thursday and friday. I will never forgive his boss for that. I told him he has be to around for 2 weeks with this one.

I am sorry. I would be more upset over his reaction than even the fact he had to travelChat Icon Like other's have said, he'll come around.

My DH travels for work as well and has a huge company sponsored trade show that he will be missing the month the babies come. I can sympathizeChat Icon

Re: i really need to vent

DH and I got into a few heated aguments because he seems to think that nothing is going to change. I will be pg, then in 9 months life goes back to normal.

Men really seems to have trouble grasping the concept that life as we know it is about to change forever.....

I am sure he will come to his senses soon, if not when the baby is born....
