Should I be concerned..
At around 6 weeks, I had an internal sono done which showed the baby's heartbeat. Yea Yesterday, I went for my first routine exam. (Pap) Before leaving, the nurse asked if I would like to try to hear the heartbeat. Of course I said sure. She told me she would try and said even though it may be too early (because she was doing it over the belly this time) she said she's pretty good at finding the heartbeat. Guess what? She didn't find it!!! Of course it got me so paranoid. I felt so good seeing the HB last week and now I just wished she didn't even try to do it this week. She figured I was 7wks 5 days. I know it might have been too early to use that type of instrument. But it got me soooo upset.

Re: Should I be concerned..
I would not be concerned right now. Most girls don't even see the doctor until 8 weeks. I'm sure the baby is fine!
As for me...my doctor had a difficult time finding it at 12 weeks AND at 16 weeks. I believe the heartbeat at 7-8 weeks is way to early to be heard with a doppler.

Re: Should I be concerned..
Thanks so much. I thought it was too early and I just wished she didn't even try.

Re: Should I be concerned..
I just had my ultrascreen and they said the heartbeat looked great and strong but with a doppler they couldn't hear it but I was told this was not unusual at all. I am 12 weeks.

Re: Should I be concerned..
I'm surprised she even offered to- my doctor won't attempt to find the heartbeat to listen until the 12 week appointment for exactly that reason!

Re: Should I be concerned..
Wow, that's CRAZY!!!! Not even 8 weeks and trying to get a heartbeat. Even with 3 kids I haven't heard it before 9 1/2 weeks and that took like 1/2 hour of me trying on my own!! Just relax, baby is fine.
