So p'od with doctor!
So as I've said the baby is big. I've been concerned about this since 32 weeks. At my last appointment they finally realize this and decide they NOW want to send me for a 3 HOUR GLUCOSE test!!! With 2 weeks before my due date they want to do this now! Now they are so concerned about diabetes! I passed the one hour with flying colors as they said and I feel that this is more like an inconvenience than a precaution.
Why now!

Re: So p'od with doctor!
2 weeks before your due date and they want to check for GD????????? Now??? Why dont they just schedule a c- section? the baby is fully grown by now. the diabetes is going to go away after the baby. for your next pg, they should monitor you closely. Having GD and having to prick my finger 6x a day, watch what I eat AND take insulin, you dont want to do this, and for 2 weeks? why? I hope they change their mind, if you take the test- ok but to treat it now at this point, is it necessary? Just take the baby out. I can see if you were before 36 weeks and the lungs werent fully developed yet and the baby is big but 2 weeks to go, I was told the baby is fully developed just cooking if it stays in your belly full term. Good luck.

I think you can refuse any test they recommend. I wouldnt bother with testing and if they are really concerned about size then they should either induce you early or schedule a c-section

That makes no sense! They should just either induce you or schedule a section

Re: So p'od with doctor!
I know someone who this happened too - it may have been a little earlier than 38 weeks but close to it. In the end they didn't push the test and just watched the baby's size. The baby measure big all along to the point the dr called it the humongous (sp?) baby. THe almost gave her a c section saying the baby was measuring over 10 - close to 11lbs at the day of her induction. In the end the baby was only 8.5 lbs and over a week late! Don't worry too much - I had GD and personally I think at this point there isn't much that taking the test could do right now.
