I have a transvaginal u/s at 16 weeks...
I had a cone biopsy a few years ago, so I will be having an u/s in a few weeks to check my cervix length. My question is: will I actually see the baby at this u/s or will they just be measuring my cervix? I can request to see the baby, right? My DH will be with me, so if I can't see the baby then he might as well not go with me.
Also...what is this transvaginal experience like? Does it hurt?

If they are going to be doing at u/s, I would assume they would check the baby out too!
The transvaginals arent that bad. It's kinda scary when you see the GIANT probe thing, but it doesnt hurt and its not uncomfortable.

Re: I have a transvaginal u/s at 16 weeks...
I had one done years ago when I had a large tumor removed from my ovary. Now, because they were looking up into my abdominal cavity, I had to have a FULL bladder- which was actually way more uncomfortable than the TV sono.
BUT- and there's no other way to explain this.... the transponder looks like a big dildo (wonder if that will get "censored")and to add insult to injury- they put what I THINK was a condom over it.
Make sure your DH stays up by your head, as my brother was at the other end when his wife had one (in early weeks of PG) and he's slightly scarred by the whole experience
I'm sure they will be able to see the baby if you ask. I would call them ahead of time to find out.
ETA: I think it's funny that dildo (which has only ONE meaning) is allowed but...s u c k s (which has MANY meanings) is not....

LOL that's exactly how I describe the thing too! It's scary looking but it doesn't hurt. I had one at 6 weeks and one at my Level II.
