need some help with feeding schedule
at our 6 mos check up, the ped said to have hannah eat 3x a day solids and still maintain 20oz formula (that includes what we use for her cereal). i am having a hard time figuring out how to spread everything out.
can you post your dc's feeding schedule? hannah generally wakes up bet 6-7am in the morning. how much time should there be in between feedings? thanks!
etd: what do you think of this: 630 bottle 900 cereal 1030bottle 1230 cereal with fruit 330 bottle 530 cereal with veggies 730 bottle

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
It sounds okay to me, but I might put breakfast a bit earlier. I usually give Noah his bottle and breakfast within an hour or an hour and a half. I think 6.30 o 9.30 is a long time to go between....

I agree! Otherwise it looks like a good schedule.

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
I think it sounds great except maybe try giving her cereal and fruit for breakfast. And then a fruit or veggie for lunch and then cereal and a fruit or veggie for dinner?
We have almost the same sched but we already are on meat since his 6 month visit. So at 5:30 he has a meat with a veggiie
Did the ped say cereal 3x a day?

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
This was Rys sched @ 5.5 months...
6- 6oz bottle 6:30 2-3tblspns oatmeal( with 1-2oz formula) half jar of fruit
10- 6 oz bottle 12- 2-3 tblspns oat.(with 1-2 oz formula) half jar veg
2- 6oz bottle 5:45- 2-3 tblspns oat. (with 1-2oz formula) half jar fruit, and half jar veg.
6ish- 6 oz bottle & bed
ETA- In the beg. I always gave Ry the cereal 3x's/day since he was a "spitter" and I noticed he kept alot more down- when I did...
And @ 6.5 months: 6 7oz bottle 6:30 3 tbspn of oatmeal, .5-1whole jar of stage 2 fruit
10- 7oz bottle
12- 3 tbspn oatmeal, and veg. (or yogurt- im trying to add that in there )
2- 7oz bottle
6- 3 tbspn of oatmeal, .5-1whole jar of stage 2 fruit, veg, and meat..
7- bottle and bed
*I will say he is less and less interested in the bottle, and maybe will only finish one of these bottle- the rest he only seems to take 4-6oz. from!

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
I am interested in this too b/c we were told Ellie needs more food so I'm more curious about the quantity that you give DC of the cereal, fruit, and veg. We're not on meat yet. Sorry to hijack your thread. I was giving her 1/2 container of fruit and 1/2 container of veg at each meal with 2 tbsp of cereal and she lost weight so now I've upped it to 4 tbsp of cereal per Ped with 1/2 stage 2 container of fruit and 1/2 container of veg. How do I know if it's enough?

Re: need some help with feeding schedule

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
so the general feeling is to move the first solid feeding closer to when she wakes up? sometimes she falls back to sleep for an hour or so after her bottle. which is great b/c i can fall back asleep for a little bit too :)

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
For us, we do the following:
6:30ish-7oz bottle
8:30ish-3Tbsp cereal, half a fruit
10:30ish-7oz. bottle
12:30ish-2-3Tbsp. cereal, half a veggie
2:30ish-7oz. bottle
4:30ish-2Tbsp. chicken and half a veggie
6:30ish-7oz. bottle.
I will add that she almost NEVER EVER finishes her bottles anymore, and I think we are expecting her to eat too many ounces of formula a day now that she's on solids 3x a day. I'd say, on average, she drinks more like 22-24oz. of formula a day.

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
It looks to me that everyone feeds the bottle and food seperately. I've been giving DD a small bottle 3-4oz and then feeding her 1-2 Tbsp of cereal mixed with fruit or veg. I do this twice a day. Looks like I should try giving them seperately. This is DD's schedule -
6-7 am 5-6oz bottle 9-10 am 3-4 oz bottle + cereal/fruit 12-1 pm 5-6oz bottle 3-4 pm 3-4oz bottle + cereal/veg 6-7 pm 5-6oz bottle
She goes to bed between 7-8pm usually. If she hasn't eaten enough during the day she will wake up for another 4-5 oz bottle during the night.

That's my gut too. Mainly because they're usually hungrier after not eating during the night - you cna get more in them in the am.
You schedule looks similar to my old one for my kids except everything was a little earlier. first bottle was about 6am, breakfast was about 8am, lunch was 11:30am - that was the basic daycare schedule which I followed on the weekends for consistency.

TJ just made 6 moths yesterday. He wakes between 8-9 and goes to sleep at 10... Here is his schedule...
8-9am - 5oz bottle (1oz mixed with 4 tbs cereal)
12-1pm - 5oz bottle (1oz mixed with 4 tbs cereal) 1/2 jar veggie... 1/2 jar fruit
4-5pm - 5oz bottle (1oz mixed with 4 tbs cereal) 1/2 jar veggie... 1/2 jar fruit
8-9pm - 9oz bottle...
He gets 24 oz a day...

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
Here's Lauren's rough schedule. It depends on our schedule for the day, but mostly this is our timing. SHe is 7 months and I give her anything (i.e., cereal, fruits, veggies and meats).
9 a.m. wake and a 6 oz bottle
10:30 a.m. - cereal with 1/2 jar Stage 2 fruit. I don't measure the cereal, but its a bit, mixed with formula (roughly 2 ounces maybe?).
11 a.m. - nap
1 p.m. - 4 oz bottle
2:30 - 1 jar Stage 2 good. Sometimes I give 1/2 fruit jar and then 1/2 veggie, other times it's a veggie only, sometimes its a fruit only. No cereal at lunch time.
3 p.m. - nap
6 p.m. - 4 oz bottle
7 p.m. - cereal with veggie and some fruit after. Or I give one jar of Gerber SImple Recipe that has a meat in it with fruit (like chicken with apples) or with a veggie (like beef and carrots or turkey with sweet potatoes).
8:30-9 p.m. - 6 oz bottle and bed
I find that I can give her less formula in her day bottles and she is ok and she eats her food well.

Re: need some help with feeding schedule
Marron is 7 months old. Here is her basic schedule. She usually wakes up around 6:30 - 7:00.
7:00 - 6oz formula plus about 2 tbsp of cereal and 1/2 jar of fruit
11:00 - 6oz formula plus about 2 tbsp of cereal and 1/2 jar of veggies
3:00 - 6oz formula
6:00-7:00 - 1/2 jar of meat plus 1/2 jar of veggies and sometimes some fruit for dessert
8:00 - 6oz formula
These times are subject to change based on when and how long she naps.
I don't know if I'm doing it "right". It looks like everybody else is feeding about every 2 hours. I only feed her about every 4 hours. I think if she ate every 2 hours it would seem like that is all I would be doing.? She also gets 3tsp of rice added to every bottle since she still spits up alot!
ETA: I know I should be putting her to bed earlier but she just won't go. If she went to bed earlier, maybe I would make her feedings closer together so that they would end earlier. Sometimes she even fights us to go to bed at 8-8:30.
