Overnight w/o son
Dh and I are going out tomorrow night and staying over friends' house that night too. My sister is coming up to babysit then will bring DS down in her car (she's got a car base in it for the carrier) to where we are staying so she can go meet friends Sunday afternoon. I am sooooo nervous because 1) she's going to be on her own 2) Liam's still battling his cold although I think it's getting better 3) she's not used to getting up at 4am when he starts coughing 4) I'm hoping he won't get worse overnight for her. I have to show her how to take his temperature, how to give him his meds, she can't even give him the stuff for his pinkeye since you need 2 people to do that (and even then it's nearly impossible!) and 5) I'm nervous that she's driving w/ him alone - but I also suggested it so I just hope he doesn't cry the whole time for her.
If it wasn't that we are going to a dinner dance where I know DH will have a fair amount to drink (which is only fair, he's had a hard year jobwise, and he hasn't seen his friends in months who will be at the dance too) but I need to stay sober just in case my sister calls me at 2am to say Liam has a fever or is coughing too much or something. I'd even just drive up home but I know DH wants to stay out late hanging out, and I don't want to drive home tired.
It will be a fun night but I was hoping my sister's boyfriend was going too. He's a medical student, so it would have made me feel better if he was going with her. Now I think I will be nervous and calling her all night long.

Re: Overnight w/o son
I had to leave DD overnight when she was 4 months old, it was soo hard, but in the end I overworried and she did mostly fine.
We had a wedding and I was in the Bridal party. My parents stayed over and watched Gianna, they don't see her very often, so i was so worried she'd cry the whole time.
I put a word document together, titled "getting to know you" that had all her quirks, favorites, medicines dosages, phone numbers of us, ped. Her routines, bed time, bottles, everything!
she only gave them a hard time for aobut an hour at bed time then conked out. My parents freaked a little bit and called our cell, but we were busy partying, and by the time i got to call back she was sleeping.
It will be okay

Re: Overnight w/o son
I had to go to the cousins's wedding last month by myself (DH had to work) so DS was left with the babysitter over night. I called a couple of times to check on him but I was fine and he had a great time. Everything will be fine.

Are you going back to the old neighborhood? Yup! The dinner dance (Tipperary) is in Eastchester. The last time we went in 2001 it was at the Polish Center in Yonkers and had a great time. This year half of our best friend's town is coming in for the dance (literally...half the town...LOL), I think one of them is getting an award and so all his friends are flying over today. Should be fun. I'm sure we'll wind up at the Heritage or McGilligan's afterwards and Eileens for brekkie some point afterwards. Ah the memories!

Re: Overnight w/o son
Thanks ladies. If it weren't for his cold and how he wakes up in the morning, I wouldn't be so worried. I also bring him into bed with us in the AM but I am nervous about my sister doing it...know what I mean? Not that she would do something stupid (on the contrary) but that Liam may wake up and see her and cry that we are not there. Thankfully she and I look alike (face-wise) maybe he won't be able to tell the difference

Rory's is not the same anymore. They let in too many underage kids now. And there was that stabbing last year right outside the door. Cops are always around there, it's not worth the hassle. I don't know why he let it get that bad. I heard his lease was up this year too and that Yonkers was not going to renew his liquor license but I guess he got them to renew or extend it somehow. Ramblling house is fun but we always go to Heritage as we know the owner and the bartenders there, and McGilligan's because I think either Mike Gilligan is from Tipp or the main bartender is or something like that, alot of Tipp guys go to drink there. It's not even called McGilligan's anymore, I don't know what it is now or who owns it. The whole area isn't the same anymore though, so many have moved home or married and moved upstate like us or to Rockland. It was great from 1998-2004 after that alot moved on.
