Breastfeeding Moms
How do you put your DC on a schedule? Do you feed on demand?
I started feeding DS on demand when he was born and now I can't seem to figure out how to put him on some sort of schedule so he will eventually sleep longer than 4 hours. Help!

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
I always fed on demand. Sleeping is just up to the child. Sorry. Emma was EBF and she woke every 2-3 hours from birth to 8 months. Jeremy was also EBF and he would sleep through the night (10-5AM) from the 2nd week home.

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
I feed on demand. As she got older, the feedings became more spread out.
She started sleeping 6-8 hour stretches at 6 weeks but she was still waking 1-2 times/night. She's finally "sleeping through the night" (8pm-8am) consistently at 5 months.

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
i always fed on demand. brendan has never been on a schedule, but eventually it fell into a pattern of him eating approximately every 3 hours. He slowly started spacing out his night feedings and by 3 months he was sleeping through the night, but I know other moms who kept feeding through out the night for much longer than that. It just takes time.

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
I feed on demand. Getting a BF baby on a schedule is difficult.

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
I fed on demand. Now that he is almost 9 months and has three solid meals a day, with BFing, he is more on a schedule with nursing and nap times. We fell into it. Although he still wakes at night, there is typically no schedule to his night waking.

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
I fed on demand until about 2-3 months. Sleeping through the night wasn't until 4 months

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
I still feed on demand and he is almost 3 months (13 weeks). He is now sleeping 7 - 8 hours at night. He feeds every 3 - 4 hours (except over night). He goes for longer stretches when we are out and about since he sleeps really well in the car. I won't let him go longer than about 4 1/2 hours though.

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
I fed pretty much on demand, but Jordana was like a clock. Every 3 hours in the beginning. Even now, she wakes up at 10 pm every night for her last feeding.

Re: Breastfeeding Moms
I feed on demand for the most part. I try not to let her go more than 3hours in between feedings during the day and so far she has pretty much been sleeping through the night since 8wks.
