CIO
At what age did you start letting your DC cry it out? Parker has a really hard time settling down for naps and gets herself all worked up. I find myself helping her calm down and it usually takes a little work. When should I just put her down and let her cry? She is 3 1/2 months old and has an attitude

Re: CIO
sorry to hear. if you are going to start letting her CIO do it in the mornings, that way she has more time to adjust by the time it is "bed time"

Re: CIO
Thanks! I got it at the Gap. I think it was $12 bucks.
What age do you start letting them CIO? People keep asking me if I ever just let her cry, but I too thought she was a bit young.

Re: CIO
I let her really CIO around 5 months I think... sometimes I would let her fuss a little when she was younger than that but not all out cry for more than 10 minutes...

Re: CIO
They talk about the Ferber method in the article. I think 3 months is still too young.

Re: CIO
My Ped said I could let DD cry it out at 4 months. DD is now almost 6 months and I still can't bring myself to do it. She goes to sleep in her crib pretty easily so on the rare nights she doesn't, I give her a little help.

Re: CIO
we did it at 4.5 months, and it was HARD! Tough for the first few nights, and then on and off for the next week or so, but then got much better. Now she sleeps 12 hours
eta: we didn't CIO for naps or to initially get her to sleep at night (she was always pretty good with that). We used it to stop the middle of the night wakings.

Re: CIO
I don't frown on CIO, I just personally don't do it. I try to rock her for a few minutes until she is starting to doze off, then I lay her in the crib. I am pretty lucky though, she usually goes right to sleep. Maybe if she didn't, I would try something else. The only time I let her scream is when she is fed, changed, had plenty of attention and I need some mommy time like for a shower or something. Some days she will entertain herself, others she needs constant attention. By the way, my daughter has an attitude too! Its so funny to see at such a young age.
