realized how lucky we are

so i went to my DH work holiday party last night and his old bosses wife started asking me a million questions about how i got preggos and all that stuff b/c she knew i have inconsistent periods (as does she) so i shared with her our experience b/t going for sonos and bloodwork and being told i had PCOS and would have a hard time getting preggos and how it happened on our 1st try dispite what they said...so as i am talking her face drops and she tells me her and her DH have been trying for a year and shes been charting, temping, etc and how badly she wants a baby and how her dr told her to wait a year before going back, Shes an emotional person as it was, but i felt so bad for her, plus she said she has been fighting with DH to go get tests done and hes been putting it off (she thinks hes embarrased it could be him). She said when she first heard i was pregnant, she got soo upset, b/c she knew it had to be around our 1st time trying etc (we had hung out over the summer and i drank so she knew i wasnt trying then, plus we had jsut gotten married). anyway, i just realized how lucky we were and i am so grateful to be pregnant with this little bean. its just so strange that you could know someone and not realize what they have been going through, she had been telling me for the past year they werent even trying, i guess she was just not wanting to talk about it then.

I too got pregnant on our first try...and not until speaking to a couple who has been trying over one year did it hit me how lucky..actually blessed we are.

To watch someone go through infertility who wants a baby so badly is heartbreaking-I pray everyday for this girl that she gets a "christmas present" and finds out she is pregnant.

This is why when people get upset over the sex of the baby (i've known two people who reacted horribly) i want to scream at them that a healthy baby in the first place is such a blessing!!

You are truly blessed. I appreciate your sensitivity to those of us who are not there yet.

Though I have no medical condition (thus far to my knowledge) that is keeping us from getting pregnant, the waiting game is pure torture. To me it makes no difference if you have been trying 5 months or a year - if all you have ever wanted in your life is to be a mother, every month that passes has an element of longing and heartache. As time goes on, it hurts more and more and everything around you reminds you that it isnt your time yet.

The only thing that gets me through it is knowing I will be prepared and a great Mom someday. DH will be a wonderful and protective father. I am really looking forward to the day when I can tell him he will be a Dad and to make his parents grandparents for the first time. I also want so desperately to give my father a legacy when I name our first born for him. Something in the back of my mind tells me that our first child will have my father's spirit and smile. I look forward to seeing it again!

We werent trying, and sometimes I feel bad referring to this PG as an "accident" when it IS soemthing I always wanted - even if the timing is not perfect... I easily could have been one of those women you are talking about - in fact, part of the surprise discovering I was PG was from me believing it would be so hard for me....

I totally agree that we are very, very lucky!!!

yes- I think about it everyday, especially when I'm complaining about how I feel.

I try to be sensitive to everyone only offer my experience if asked.

how nice of you to post this.

when DH and I first got our BFP all I could think about was one certain girl on the boards who has been trying for awhile...I felt all sorts of emotions and a little bit of guilt was one of them.

we are all truly blessed.

It is nice of you to post. Even though I got to play the infertility game for a while, I even feel guilty that I get to be blessed and so many of my friends are still hoping, praying and going through the hardest times imaginable.

Your sensitivity is nice, and appreciated to all of us who have struggled and continue to...
