Anyone's baby ever have Bronchalitis
My little Reese has Bronchalitis she is having trouble breathing. We were at the Doc all day. He used a Nebulizer to clear her lungs and then sent us for a chest X-ray to make sure she didn't have Pneumonia. She sounds terrible I keep running upstairs to check on her. It's hard for her to drink. For any Nurses or Doctors out there... she drank about 12 oz's today..is that to little? The doc told me that if she isn't drinking enough she will have to go into the hospital. She has a terrible cough too. Surprisingly she is not cranky at all.

Re: Anyone's baby ever have Bronchalitis
How old is she? My son had it when he was 6 weeks and coughed so much, he couldnt hold down anything. 12 oz is really not that much, even for a newborn. When he couldnt hold down the formula, we switched (under doctors care) to straight Pedialyte for a few days. He was able to tolerate it better and eventually was able to do 1/2 and 1/2. We did neb treatments which helped a bit I guess. He was so small, he wasnt cranky either. You have to be very careful though when they get bronchiolitis when they are small, they are very susceptible to getting again or RSV and needing the nebulizer treatments constantly. I'm sure your doctor will or has mentioned that, if not you should bring it up. I hope she feels better soon...its definitely not fun as the parent, the labored breathing is so terrible to hear.

Andrew got it after starting day care at 11 months. He used a nebulizer.
I hope Reese is able to drink more!

12 ounces is too little! keep checking her diapers to make sure they are wet. if she doesn't wet her diapers she could be dehydrated! try to push more fluids, hopefully at least 20 oz per day. I hope little Reese is OK!!!!

Re: Anyone's baby ever have Bronchalitis
when my dd was 2 months old she bronchalitis which turned into RSV. she could hardly drink anything. and when she did she would got into a chocking/coughing fit for up to two hours afterwards. she needed to be admitted to the hospital for one week. during that time she had an iv, and many treatments. but thank god after one week, she was as good as new. shes 4 now and has never (knock on wood), had bronchitis again. fm me if you want to ask me any questions. . heres hugs to both of you and prayers for a quick recovery!!!

Re: Anyone's baby ever have Bronchalitis(update)
Thank you all for your good wishes..much appreciated. I took my little baby back to the doctor today so he can check her. Her fever broke and is now normal it was a 102 yesterday. He also checked her pulse and it was up to 99 which it was 92 yesterday. Reese is 9 months old. She had been urinating so she doesn't seem dehydrated . We use the Nebulizer every 4 hours which i think is helping. She doesn't sound any better but she is not getting worse. I am going to watch her closely this weekend and if i feel like she is getting dehydrated i will call my doctor who is on call all weekend. My doc has been great through all of this..he calls me everyday to see how she is doing.
Thanks again
