$@%*(#&$%^(*#$(*@#$(

I could kill my husband, I really could. Tonight, from 6-10pm I have a CLE (continuing legal education) - this is the last opportunity for me to take the class by the end of the year and if I don't take it, I won't be able to practice and won't be in good standing with the bar association, which is fairly important right now considering I'm interviewing for a job with the federal government which required that I provide proof of GOOD standing with the bar.

So, I know my husband has a hard time with scheduling. Well, more like, he's a scheduling idiot, so I ALWAYS tell him repeatedly when I have something important coming up. So for the last 3 months I've been reminding him of this class I have tonight so he will remember that he has to pick up Alex and take care of her.

So, I remind him ALL day yesterday. Then, last night, as he's getting ready to go to the shower, he looks at me and says, WAIT, when is your class???? The freakin'... FREAKIN' MORON scheduled his board meeting for the exact SAME time, SAME day. I look at him and tell him, baby, I CANNOT get out of this CLE, I need to take it and I gave you months of notice. He looks at me and says well I can't get out of the Board meeting.

So, of course, I'm scrambling all morning, amidst the ridiculous amount fo work and deadlines I have, to find a sitter. I called our sitter, who didn't answer and I suspect she has classes today and won't be able to do it. I have no family in the area who can help us out, and my only friend I trust to watch Alex is on the BOARD so will be at the board meeting. So what the hell do I do??? I AM SO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Oh yes, the best is when he crawled into bed and I said to him, you really have to start paying attention to what I tell you. His response?? Why are you so mad at me? Men are clueless Chat Icon

OMG, men! I hope you can find someone. The SAME thing happened to me too. My last CE class is next Wednesday morning, and I keep telling him to make sure he can go into work at 1 p.m. (my class is 8-12:30). HE keeps saying fine. But last time I had this class, he scheduled something at work and the night before I had to call his mom and ask her to babysit.

OH I feel your pain!!

Ladies. I would like to introduce you to "Remember the milk" . You give a list of things that need to be done and your DH can be texted/emailed/whateer. I did it to DH and he HATED it- but at least he would remember.

I stopped doing it and of course yesterday DH had to bring milk to teh daycare. I reminded him a ton of times and left the milk out for him. Of course I call him just to make sure and he forgot it. Thankfully I came home from work sick about an hour later- or all that milk would have been ruined.

Men. Can't live with them. Pass the beer nuts.

Can you dump it on him to make arrangements? Tell him that he was told well in advance & to figure something out?

Yup CLEs are mandatory. I agree that you need to take them - is there an online class available for it? And if your CLEs are due, that means your birthday is coming...Chat Icon

If I dump it on him, Alex will be stranded at daycare Chat Icon I think worst case scenario, he's just going to have to drive his arse back home, pick her up, pack up her dinner and toys and bring her to the city with him for his board meeting. He caused the problem, he's going to have to be the one to fix it this time! I looked online to see if I could take the class somewhere else, and this is the last possible date it's being offered. I can't take it online because it's a NJ class, and I need the credits for both NJ and PA, and unfortunately PA will not give you any credits for video/online viewing. To get full credit, you must go in person. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Many hugs and hopes that our DH's get a little bit of that short, long, or any term memory...

Why do we have to pick up the pieces EVERY time they screw up.

Hope everything works out.

I think you should do exactly what you just explained. He NEEDS to learn that you can't always clean up his mistakes and he has to learn how to listen to you and fix the things he messes up.

Remember, you aren't the only one who's a parent; he is too!

OMG!!! I would be LIVID!!! So what can you do about the CLE? You have to be able to practice! Can he postpone the meeting? I wouldn't even let him into the bed much less the bedroom if my DH did something like that to me. That's big time. I hope you can find someone to pick up your child and watch him/her for you!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Im sorry!!! How annoying!! You HAVE to take the CLE....
Are there any firms that you do business with who are offering CLEs on different dates? I know my old firm (in NYC) offers CLEs all the time and invites attys from other firms to join.
I know you're in PA, otherwise I'd ask my old firm for you.
I hope you get things worked out!

Sigh... I wish... unfortunately this particular class is mandatory to maintain my NJ bar certification. What a major pain... though, my sitter just called me to tell me she's available... though DH just cancelled his board meeting. Ha... serves him right! Chat Icon
