When can I start her on avocado?

Ava is 5.5 months old and has been eating sweet potatoes, green beans and sweet peas as far as veggies go. Oh, and carrots, too. I'd like to get away from the same ol' same ol' veggies in a jar since I'm making all the chicken that she eats and sometimes the veggies, too. So, is it too early to introduce avocado? Also, anyone have suggestions on other veggies? I'm not giving her squash because I am allergic to it and cannot touch it. TIA!

I think you can do it now.

other veggies...hmmm....what about zucchini, the green one or the yellow one?
we did butternut squash.
potatoes made with broth? or microwaved....I nuke them and cut them up into chunks for her.
I'll check my mommy made baby food cookbook for you in the morning to see what they suggest for around that age.

Thanks Shana. i should really get a cookbook. I am trying to get her off any pre-made foods, so I should just invest in a book. I'm already in a rut and I just started making her food

Ava's had chicken already? we haven't done meats yet. When did you start?

how about corn, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus.

Get an Annabel Karmel book, you can do mixes of veggies, I like to do Potato and Pea (you can mix that in with meats, which is really nice) and also Potato, leek, parsnip and spinich...thats a great one.

i tried avacado around 6 months and DS wanted nothing to do with it. He starting gagging from the texture.

i started olivia on avocado at 6 months and that was while she was trying the peas and carrots. dont be surprised if ava doesnt like it right away. you need to try it a couple times. good luck

you can do avacado, zucchini, and the squashes (butternut and acorn).

everything else suggested 7 months

I'm not worried about what month to introduce it because our pediatrician said we can do veggies and meats. He's more concerned about fruits and her allergies, so we're holding off on those. Anyway, Thanks for the sites listed adn I think I'll head to the library to check out some cookbooks. So far, every, single thing I've given Ava, she has loved. I am hoping she stays like this!

MAddy tried avaocado ay 6 months and was allergic. Turns out my MIL is allergic to it, so I guess thats where she got it from.
