Re: IL question

My MIL and I get along, but we aren't really close. She talks to DH everyday, but never me. I definitely think she'll want to be around more and I'm soooo dreading itChat Icon

Re: IL question

My DH is close with his parents - I only see them once in awhile (birthdays and holidays)

I'm not worried about her wanting to be more involved - they are much older and have alot going on already.

Re: IL question

My SMIL is very involved with us.

My MIL is another story. She knows that I have been having a hard time and I am 17 weeks pregnant and I haven't even spoken to her since the day we told her (the day we found out).

Maybe I am more emotional, but it does bother me that she doesn't seem to care about me or her grandchild. I know she speaks to my SIL everyday and I speak to my SIL a lot, but still, just hearing things second hand doesn't equate knowing what is going on!

I know that she will make some grand gesture (in her mind) and want to fly up here (she hates to fly and to take off work) when the baby is born, but I honestly don't want her drama. Especially since she knows NOTHING of what we are doing at all.

Re: IL question

Im not worried that they will be around all the time....I mean it is their grandchild, they are entitled. I just make sure I set the limits to when they are welcome, which so far hasnt been a problem , I dont think it will be. Hope not anyway....

Re: IL question

Nope- grandkid #13 for them, no biggie. Plus FIL is in bad shape, MIL thinks about nothing else. Mind you, he has been in this same "bad shape" since I met him in 2002....

Re: IL question

My in-laws are very supportive, but can get overbearing at times (ha ha - see previous post: Getting Close to Birth Vent)....

My MIL will be watching our baby two days a week which will help us out a lot. I think it is great that they are "young" grandparents and will be involved - but 30 miles between houses can be a miracle at times!
