What can it be????
Last night Christopher was a NIGHTMARE...he cried for 3 hours I dont know if it is Colic or acid reflux. The Zanatc does NOT seem to be working and he is on Nutramigen which I dont know if that works anymore (figures now that my insurance is paying for it) It only happens at night time from the hours of 7pm-till midnight and he is fine during the day. he finally camls down in his swing or if I bounce him on my lap or rock with him. He spits up a little not a lot just when he has had too much. When you try to burp him you can feel air pockets in his tummy/chest area. Do you think it is Colic or reflux??

Re: What can it be????
How old are your boys again? My son did this weeks 3-6 for 2-3 hours at night. The only thing that worked was a blow dryer

Re: What can it be????
How old is he? Sounds like colic - or at least colicky behavior (which could also be gas) happening at the same time each night. My son would sometimes only calm down if I went into his bathroom and shut the door (total darkness) and shushed/bounced him w/the bath fan on. I know how hard it is w/one baby screaming every night, hugs to you for having 2 to care for. I can say now at 12 wks he no longer screams like this, not sure how old yours are but there IS a light at the end even though it seems impossible right now. Hang in there!!

Re: What can it be????
It could be AR. Call the doctor and see what he says.
I always panic when I hear milk still jiggling in Matthew's tummy. I burped him at his feeding and then all of a sudden 2 hours later I hear milk jiggling around. I was like "what!" So I started burping his back and luckily he burped.

Similar story w/us, we went to Nutramigen and he seemed 100% better at first then started this nightly crying routine and I thought I would lose it not knowing what else I could do for him. I think their systems just need to mature a little then they don't feel so gassy and uncomfortable.

Re: What can it be????
My DS is colicy and also has reflux, and I have had my days lately where I just want to cry along with him.. this past Monday he cried ALL day long and it was SO hard -- so I can only imagine with twins its that much harder
since you said he's experiencing this at the same time every night, and is generally good during the day.. it does sound like colic .. Colicy babies usually have their 'witching hours' where they cry during the same time frame each day..
of course the reflux might also be an issue, it's so hard to know. My doctor told me that reflux might not always mean they spit up a lot, it could be 'silent reflux' .. my DS does not spit up much but he does have reflux, and is also on Zantac (not sure if its helping him yet either )
I hope Christopher is doing better soon.. I feel for you!!

Re: What can it be????
We had colic and reflux! In the beginning I didn't think the zantac was working but it did! No formula worked for us until we were put a presription formula: neocate. He was a new baby!!!!!!! And my ins pays for it AND delivers it to my door!

Re: What can it be????
I went to a GI specialist and allergists for my daughter and most research doc say that AR IS colic. The reflux causes the colicky baby, so yes, I thik you may have both Shorter feeding times but don't wait as long during feed and keep him upright for at least 20 min after he eats. I know it is tough, I dealt with it for 20 months with my daughter and it just came back and she is almost 4

Re: What can it be????
It sounds like colic to me. Ho wlong has he been on Zantac? My ped told me that can take a few days to work. Have you tried Allimentum? Similar to Nutramagin but made by Similac. Katie is on that (Nutramagin did nothing for her w/ the colic and a/r).
to you!!!

Re: What can it be????
If it's colic the only thing that will help unfortunately is time. I went thru it although DD was breast fed, I tried changing my diet, nothing really helped but as she got closer to 3 months old everything just got easier. Many to you for dealing with this and having twins...

Re: What can it be????
I had many nights like the one you described before he turned a year old. He had colic for about 4 months.
