Doppler....

I cant find the babys heartbeat and its making me crazy. I am 11 weeks tommorow...could it be too soon?
I have the fetal sure Doppler.

I hear all these stories of people hearing it at 9 weeks at home and so of ocurse I think I SHOULD....

Could it be that Im over wieght so its "harder" for the sound to travel?

Thanks....

Re: Doppler....

try angeling it under your pubic bone. Go VERY VERY slow and aim the doppler every which way under the bone.

Same here. Waaay lower than I pictured.

For best results I lay flat on the bed and start just where the hair line is and move very slowly until I hear it.

And I pull the belly taut to help find him too.

Re: Doppler....

Go real low, and press down too.

Like others said make sure you go really slow, you could miss it really easy very early on.

I found mine below the hairline, by the pubic bone, and i had to press down.

It sometimes took me 15-20 mins to find it. Chat Icon

Tried again....I got a few "Readings" ont he doppler showing 155-169 bpm, but I hear NOTHING when that shows? And then it dissapears.

I give up.

Does it get easier the further along you are?

Re: Doppler....

You'll find it! Definitely try low and a little to the side. My 2 kids were always on the left side. I was able to hear both of them right before 9 weeks, but I was a lot skinnier before I got PG both times. Weight can make a difference. Make sure you have the volume all the way up and go slow. Good luck!

Yes I agree. Did you read the directions that came with it? They tell you where to put it to start looking for it. I forgot exactly where it was they said to put it but it works. You have to move it very slowly too bc its so little and easy to miss.

Good luck! you WILL find it!! (PS I posted instead of FMing but if I can help more FM me!)

I was about 12 weeks before I could hear anything and it was making me crazy!!! Even at 12 weeks it would sometimes take me 20 minutes to find it. I am overweight and think that played into it.
Now, at 18 weeks I can find it in about 5 seconds so don't worry!!!

Re: Doppler....

Dr H said if she cannot find it using the doppler in the office then I should not even bother trying to find it at homeChat Icon I have resolved to wait until my next visit on the 7th & if we can hear it then I wil order it. I will absolutely drive myself insane.

Re: Doppler....

That doppler thing gave me so many panic attacks it got to the point where my DH just went and returned it because I was going crazy.

Keep trying though I always found it close to the hairline.

Oh and just the other day at the dr.'s my baby was positioned in such a way they couldn't find the heartbeat even though we could actualy see it moving from the outside. I am 35 weeks. SO it sometimes acts up. Chat Icon
